The or ing bite-was non exist ant but later the screen lit up again like yesterday just after 5 PM at Lake Hartwell and we limited out again today... the fish in my left hand weighed 4 lbs and this monster striper in my left hand came somewhere between 10-12 lbs (this fish would not stop wiggling around and keep making racket in the live we’ll box for over an hour) Most were in 40-60 feet but this monster came off the bottom in about 100 feet deep and took over 10 minutes to land... it was another good day to be on the lake.

We got on the river at 5:30 am. We stared with flatfish with sardines tied on and no luck so around 8:00
our guide Jason Wigham switched to roe and we started to get a few bites.About an hour later I finally
hoked one and got it in. It was still slow so we moved around to a few different spots and them to a deep
hole and we started to hook up. Then my friend hooked a big , fought it for about ten mins. and it broke
his line. Then a little later he got another one and that one spooled him. Then his son hooked one and the fight
was on! It took him 45 mins to get it to the boat. what a fight! Our guides guess on length was 6' to 7' and
100 plus lbs. We had a great day.

Well here we are in Solvang, Ca, about 3,500 miles behind us now. Picked up a nail in a tire so had to stop and fix it, so lost about an hour. All good, better to be safe. Took a side trip to enjoy more scenery down by Morro Bay and the ocean. Just 3.5 hours tomorrow and Home Sweet Home. Most fitting song for our trip “Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude” , a Jimmy Buffet favorite. Wife still talking to me and that is a good thing!!! Hope you enjoy a little more scenery. No work today means another outing,so this morning I went back to Spring Lake, The bite was not as good as Yesterdays, but it was there, I was able to land three decent bass, the first picture is of a fish that Matt and I saw yesterday, we were fishing from the bank and the fish jumped out of the water for a bug right next to us, we tried for the fish for a while but it wanted nothing to do with our baits, today I went back to the same area that we saw the fish, and it was there again, so I threw my line in and my worm landed right next to it, it wanted nothing to do with my bait, I imagine the fish has seen about a million worms,so I pulled my line out of the water and switched up to a Pro Point Bug, I flipped my line back into the water on the very edge of the reeds, and the fish instantly nailed the bait, I was so stoked to have lured this fish out of the reeds, especially since this is a fish I have been after for two days, I hit a few spots on the way back to the car but with no luck, I am more than happy with today’s results, I will be back there soon, hope your day treats you well 🎣

I have to say it has been a bit slow on the Napa River for me. I had heard a couple of fly fishermen who go regularly say they had an almost 100 fish day last week. Striped Bass just boiling and about 30 of them keeper size (18 inch plus)...Well, needless to say I congratulated them and bit my tongue as that day I caught and of course released a 12 inch Striped Bass....LOL

I have been spoiled fishing with Saw1, we usually catch quantity or quality or both....but we are all human. He usually still catches several but I haven't been quite as "lucky".

Today, was a really good day!!! Saw caught 16 nice Striped Bass and I got 9. It was a nice day and the Pelicans were out in quantity and while we trolled, Saw1 caught 4 shakers and I was luckless but that changed. We found the fish and they wanted to play!!! Anyway, I always have a great time going out on the water and catching is always a bonus. Today we got into the Bonus!!! I think Steve has a couple of pictures to add later.

Well, NO Halibut for us today. LOTS of bait fish though. I caught bout 100 Jack Smelt and Herring.
Right after we started fishin, Brad hooks up. He starts reelin it in and it didn't seem that big. Then after a few min, all the sudden it almost broke Brads rod. It was bent over so much I really thought it might break.
Fought it for the better part of 10 min and finally got it up near the boat. Was bout a 100 pound Bat Ray. Was right under the surface near boat and the hook finally straightened out. Thank goodness. I was gonna have to gaff it to get it unhooked.
I had just reached for my phone when the hook pulled out, so no pic.
I was catchin SO many baits I was throwin them back more than we kept.
We tried to keep them alive with the bait buckets but as they died we put them in a big ziplock bag so Brad could freeze em. I bet he kept 25 or 30 and I turned bout 30 live ones loose when we were leavin.
Brads son Daniel and a couple friends came out there today also. They had caught 2 keepers and missed a couple today and we left them fishin.
We got off the water bout 1pm.
Right before we left, the Pelicans were all dive bombing on bait closer to shore. Was really fun to watch them.
They were probly bout a 1/4 mile away but you could sure see their splashes.
I did take 1 pic of one of the bigger Jack Smelt I caught. Was probly 12 inches. Brad said he'd never seen one that big. I caught 3 or 4 that size and lots that were close to a foot long.

Goin back out on the Napa on Monday with Ben to pre fish in hopes to take OBG out there on Wednesday.

I am not familiar with any lakes or ponds near McMinnville. I am looking to take my nephew who I want to take fishing who is 13 years old. His father never did anything with him other than play video games. His father left his family for another woman when he was about nine. He’s a great kid and needs an adult male to take him and do things with him. He would love to try fishing as his father never would do anything outdoors. Since I’m retired I’d like to teach him about anything outdoors, starting with fishing. Anybody know where I can take him close by to start? I appreciate any suggestions.
