No, I was just in it for the women and money. As a bonus I got to stay a year in a first rate hospital free!
It don’t git no better than that!

On serious note, I feel blessed to serve with and be cared for the finest people I have met in my many years. Having been totally blind for almost two years I am richly rewarded each moment I open my eye. A also grieve each day for fallen comrades who were truly closer than brothers

Thank you very much for your reply. It was yet another blessing.

I owe all that. Knowledge to People’s Army of North Vietnam. And they did it for free!

I have a knot tying, diamond file, eye opener clip combination tool that I hang from my vest but only use the file much. I like the Davy Knot, the double Davy. But my main problem is using fine tippets and I just can’t feel them and they are hard to see, and so I ordered an eye threading tool from Cabelas to try. Supposed to line up the eye with a slot to run your tippet through. If I ever get a chance to use it I’ll take a picture and write a report.

I am 78 with one eye and a bit of nerve damage to both hands. Despite this I see anchor ropes, plow line etc, fine.
it should be obvious why I enjoy using mycoroscopic flies and invisible leaders. On the rare occasion I use leaders smaller than the average tie-off rope I find magnifying glasses and a tool such as the one above most helpful. As an added bonus I only use one side of the glasses.

Hope this helps, though I hope few of you need it!

At one time I was employed in the packaging industry. I had traveled on the Company plane when we landed to pick up a customer, and older fellow with a slight German accent. We were asked if the man could sit in the co pilot seat as he was once a pilot. I replied that as much money as he spent with us he could sit anywhere he wanted.
As we reached altitude the pilot was setting the auto pilot when the fellow said “You guys are operators. Ve vere PILOTS”.
Our pilot bristled a bit and said,”Oh, yeah? What did you fly?”.
“Messershmitts”, replied the man. “When I was seventeen”.
“Oh.” said our pilot in a small voice.

Me too. In my largely misspent (and unexpectedly long) life I have done rodeo, motorcycle racing, been blown up by a land mine in Vietnam, three spectacular car crashes, and a broken neck in a farming accident.
If I ever woke up and nothing hurt I would think I had died in my sleep.

Yeah, you're right. Came to fish, not fight. But, sure makes you mad enough to fight.

I have witnessed ice fishing exactly once in my 77 years. My wife and I had attended a business meeting in Aspen Colorado, immediately following a major snowstorm. At the first opportunity we went exploring and observed a number of people ice fishing. We were walking toward the fishermen when my wife noticed that I had disappeared. A large tree had uprooted, leaving a large hole which filled with loose snow. With uncanny precision I had had walked right into the camouflaged stump hole.

I live near the great metropolis of Seale, Alabama. My property includes 6 ponds (man made), ranging from~1 to 10 acres. none are fed by streams. Some are fed by springs which flow during wet weather and some only by runoff from surrounding high ground.

Delton Special Wood Top water lure

When I was about 12-13 years old (now 77) my father had taken me to Lake George in Florida. The first day I made a cast with a frog colored Dalton Special that went over a snag and hung about six inches above the water. A moment later came an explosion of water as a 51/2 pound bass leaped to engulf the plug. After many years of outdoor adventure, hunting, fishing and one war, I have never forgoten the Dalton Special.
