80 grand? And diesel at six bucks a gallon! Highest repair cost of any vehicle in any shop in California!according to my buddy who owns several auto body shops. Like he says… hope you know the King! Longest wait for parts! That said it is a great vehicle if you can afford it! Just curious what brand and model did u decide on for a new fish finder? I just installed a new Simrad Cruise model on my boat. Great unit and I highly recommend it!. Great options, 7” screen with high definition, simple operation, and a fair price.

2016...$30k with 100k miles, dead clean, BMW dealer replaced things like brakes/rotors, tires that are nearly $2000, 90 day warranty, if I catch anything they will do it without hassles...nicest vehicle I've ever had and I've had Audi A8, S8, BMW 750il, Q45, etc. Diesel down to $4.50 here...oh, and an 825 watt Meridian stereo that sounds better than the $8000 one in the Audi S8 I had.

Not for everybody, but I only put 8000 miles on my F-150 Platinum in 4 years, so I'm not racking up a lot of miles on a vehicle that has high maintenance costs. I'm getting the F-150 ready to sell (detailing), it's a great truck

I have a 16' Tracker, total weight (per scale) 1860#, tongue weight 250#.
My 2015 Subaru Forester with 100K miles labors when towing, with a safe trailer weight of 1,500#, so I'm overweight.
Ideally, I'd like to replace the Forester with a similar (good mpg) SUV but with a better tow capacity. Any recommendations or bad experiences? Perhaps a Kia Sorento or Jeep Latitude... or ?

I just brought a Range Rover TD6 diesel home day before yesterday, towed my Lowe 1775 down to Sacramento to have a new fishfinder installed, I'm in love...and it gets 23/28mpg. Best tow vehicle I've ever been in.

8” trout, wast of time, why are they stocking fish too small to eat?

So they can acclimate and grow

Why would people waste their time catching them with power bait and worms and then release a fish that will die 9/10 times?

A young fish that acclimates and grows is going to be a lot nicer fish to catch than fresh planters

Noticed they’re stocking Halsey this week with trout so ran up the 30 minute drive to check….had both trout and bass bags and 4 rods so I was covered just in case…fished the canal inlet, pretty clear water but bits of algae, did see 4 otters ….nothing for the 5 people that were fishing along with me…after an hour I called it, loaded up my 2 rods and walked to the truck when DFG pulls up with 200 lbs to dump!! Guess who was next to the gate they open and was casting into them as they dropped! That’s a first! Landed 31 in 90 minutes and lost that many or more…..here’s the problem, all these fish were 8” at best and all the same…these came out of Nimbus and are some of the first few releases from there since they had “issues”….I hope they have better luck and they can drop larger fish later this year 🙏🏻 I did move a group of Dads and kids to my spot and we’re on them within a cast or two, my good deed for the day 👍

One of the plant strategies doesn't have anything to do with releasing fish so they can be caught in the first week, they are supposed to acclimate and grow

Trout bite was good today! 40-60 ft. with silver flasher dragging night crawler.

Did they have those little bug thingies sticking to them? Some lakes seem to have them some don't.

Should of lesson to my Dad when I was 7 when he told me to never, never, never use my teeth to close split shot. Funny how my dad gets smarter the older I get. Just kept fishing and caught 3 nice trout, will make a nice meal for me and the wife. South Fork Tuolumne River using orange power bait.

That looks like you took a crown out? If it was a whole tooth you wouldn't have been staying for the fishing, I've had a few broken teeth and the pain when a nerve is exposed is a whole new reality...that doesn't include fishing, Lol

Definitely 200’ from another boat, and 100’ from shore unless you are in no wake situations.

The part I don't get is why a boat needs to be close to shore where people are fishing, the question being why not go as wide as you can?

In my younger days before I married my wife, we were fishing by the dam at Folsom Lake and a wake boat was going back and forth as close as he seemed to be able to get while there was a whole lake for him to be skiing on. I started throwing rocks, he got pissed off and came over to where we were at, said he was going to report us, I told him go ahead, that he was going to be told that if he was close enough to get hit with a rock from shore he was way too close. I asked him what was wrong with the center of the lake.

Takes the pleasure of a nice peaceful day away to have inconsiderate jerks. Now we will be trolling and we can't figure out why someone with a whole lake has to go within a hundred feet of a boat trolling.

The illegal thing varies state by state, even different in different lakes in the same state.

Nobody seems to be covering why it is illegal in some states, because people who care wouldn't do it whether it's illegal or not.

Corn doesn't digest well, it stays in a fish's digestive tract and can kill them...which is why the chumming thing with a whole can of corn is the culprit. So my question would be if you know why it is illegal in some states, why you wouldn't care about doing something that is bad for fish.

In California a high number of people use a piece of white Shoepeg corn on their hooks for Kokanee, it's credited with increasing the bite. But using corn for bait is illegal.

I like to filet my fish, wash and rub filets under running water until most of the red(blood) Is gone. My favorite way to cook, make a batter from any regular pancake mix, ad a little garlic salt ,fry in veg oil till golden, guaranteed best tasting fish ever

I'll have to try some pancake batter with some italian seasoning panko added, sounds good, we also like to spice up fried fish with some Jamaican jerk seasoning

Went up to my in-laws place outside of Belleville Illinois this week and my mother-in-law said she needs to get fish to fry for 31 of us Friday night. And for me to go up to the farm pond across the road and see what I can do; she has already called the farmer/owner—Fred—and told him I was coming up.
This is a 100 farm pond that used to be a pay Lake, and then when the property was sold in the 70s they shut it down and no one fished it except family. After four hours this morning, my arms and wrists are sore. I used top water for the first hour 5:15-6:15, then swim baits for an hour and then plastic (green pumpkin chigger craws on stand up heads) until 9ish. Not only did I have to catch them, I had to fillet them too. There is not one bass over 3 lbs in this mess; I put everything over 3 pounds back in the water; including two in the 8 lb range. I believe I threw back more than I kept. This lake (pond) is unbelievable. I WILL be back to fish this pond again.

Blues are a likelyhood in that situation. Sometimes all there is. Steel leaders will assure that you won't catch a striper. I would advise investing in some 50# fluorocarbon for leader material. Also, spring for your own rod. I would never use their stuff. They are not in the business of tackle sales, and those rigs aren't cheap.

That's what I was going to say, bring a spool of 50lb fluorocarbon, sell a leader sized piece to other guys for $3 bucks and pay for your spool...win win

I'm just surprised they haven't figured this out and buy a 500 yd spool of fluoro, it's really not that expensive in bulk spools...it would save them a whole lot of hassle.

I don't think so, the Hearst Property is way down river. A good distance from Ah Di Nah. The campground was very nice and had full facilities but I understand they took it down when they turned it to a Wild River Section.

It's still there...and the ruins of the burned down lodge are right there.

10 hours from placerville? Huh? It’s about 4 hours

What are you talking about? Unless you figured a way there that is much shorter, going to Shasta, and across to the way into the McCloud Lake, then on the gnarly rocky dirt road from the lake to the campground that takes an hour or an hour and a half, we never did it in under 8 hours, and I drive very fast in relation to speed limits.

It's 281 miles to Lake McCloud, or 5/6 hours depending on gas/meal breaks, and another hour and a half on a bad dirt road from there. With breaks we never did it in under 8 hours.

Called them mudcats that came out of the Red River in Shreveport because they tasted like mud, the blues or channel cats tasted fine.
