Fishing down the crick in Florida with a booger line being stripped off my finger causing me to fall in the crick,I Thank GOD two girls were there to pull me out. I still used a booger line for a LONG time after, never fell in again either.

What's a booger line? That's a new one to me and I'm 75 and have been fishing since I was 5. Had my own boat when I was 7, with a 1.5 hp Johnson. Wish I still had that motor.

We have a different problem here in Louisiana. Areas we fished forever are now blocked off because if you own both sides of a waterway you can claim the water too. A lot of this is pipeline canals that cut through the marsh. Some have gates some have private patrols who are in the pockets of local sheriffs. It use to be that any waterway that had tide action and was navigable was open for fishing. Some duck hunting areas were closed to the public only during the season and that makes sense. Our weak politicians in Baton Rouge are in on the take from the big land owners so nothing gets done year after year.

Unless you’re talking about venomous snakes I wouldn’t worry too much about them. They don’t want to be anywhere near you either.

Got my first Mitchell 300 in the late 1950s. My uncle who worked in Guam brought a few in for my dad and I. Weren't in shops here in the New Orleans area. Later bought a 302 in Cuba. Still have those two plus a 301 with the original red and black plastic box. Also have two other 300 a 310a few others that never caught on. Also a slew of red bait casting feels.

Bowfin, grindle, mudfish, cypress trout all the same fish. Some folks think they are the best tasting down here in south Louisiana. I'm 75 and have caught a lot of them but have never eaten one. There is a industry down here now that markets bowfin caviar and if you ever tasted expensive caviar you would like this type.

I agree with the Leatherman. I've had mine so long the leather pouch almost has no black finish on it.
Never in my boat or hunting without in on my hip. Have fixed everything from glasses to motor repairs.
Keep thinking about getting one of the new ones but can't think of anything they could do that I couldn't do with my old one.

24' boat with a 300 hp outboard and at least one of every thing in the fishing section of Bass Pro. Retire at 30 years old. And have a wife or girlfriend who likes to clean fish.

I worked for a company that has twin sisters who were identical.
For years one would work until lunch and after lunch the other one would finish the day.
That went on for over ten years.
They finally confessed and both took on full time jobs with the company.

Get the line on a spinning reel a little loose and the line goes over the front of the spool and you have worse than a backlash. You have a spider web.

Windknots has it 100% correct. Most backlashes are because of improper spool adjustment. Don't get the spool spinning when you hit the button. Every time you change baits you have to readjust the spool tension.
I'm 75 years old and as a kid I fished a lot with my grandfather. Back then a bait casting reel was the only reels there was and it was just called a reel. Until I was able to cast on dry land without too many back lashes I had to use a cane pole. If any of you complain about using these modern marvels, try an old reel that the handles spun around when you cast. Spinning didn't start until Mitchell started sending reels from France. Mitchell 300s. I still have 4 of the originals. Never throw anything away. Also have the red and black plastic boxes they came in.

How many of you grew up with pellet guns? I'm 74 and got my first pellet gun when i was 8YO. Where did we carry our lead pellets? Cheeks. Maybe swallowed a few in my lifetime. Also grew up with lead paint and red lead for any metal around boats and dock fittings. Have a original Benjamin pump from my teen years. Had the leathers replaced but mainly use my RWS now.
