One of the 300's is in need of repair. Bail spring and other stuff. Worth fixin up?
I think so. Some parts available on line.
Becoming harder and harder to find.

Hey, just saw on craigslist Sacramento Ca. some guy has 3 old Mitchell reels, one a 300 , for sale for 15 bucks apiece.
I have a 1968 300 my Grampa left me. It is n the original box with the spare spool. Even has the original price tag of $14.98, only missing the owners manual.
The first reel I ever bought back in 1964 for a trip to the Minnesota Boundary Waters. Served me well.
Wow...very cool! Hang onto that!
Those would be worth buying!
To this day one of the reels I frequent is a Mitchell 300. I obtained it new 5 years back brand new with the spare spool in it's original plastic box. I've moved four times and the box and spool are forever gone, but I still use that old reel. This reel has caught many trout in Washington and Idaho Waters.
I still use a 406 I bought new, 1972(?). Put the heavy duty palm handle, high speed on it. Has brought in a lot of fish. Have a couple 300 series.
I have a old Mitchell on my “OLDE’S BUT GOODIE’S” collection... I can’t remember what the series it is...

When I broke up with boyfriend around 1959, thats when I started fishing. Went to Sears and bought the first rod & reel baitcaster & a big heavy tacklebox. Started going to pay lakes. I think I still have that outfit. Probably needs alot of work done on it. That's how my fishing habit started.
