I fished the Chetec chain in north central wis for 30 tears but haven't been there in the last 15 years. Bring up the site for Crimsen hue resort or just resorts on the chetec chain of lakes and go to the Crimsen resort site and you will see a picture of bluegills and crappies that will blow you away these fish were caught I believe on May5,2019 by an elderly couple. The years I fished there we would always get many walleye northerns and the panfish never fished bass then but there is a very healthy amount of all these varieties. CAN"T Believe the size of the blue gills we always saw 1-2 pound crappies but never saw bluegills like those in the picture check it out.

probably the best advise anyone can give you about jig fishing is choose the jig weight by the depth your fishing the color buy the water clarity the trailer buy the food supply available to the bass . always use the lightest jig you can get away with that will keep contact with the bottom ( remember the wind will be a major factor here) If you are around rocks there are probably crawfish depending on the time of year and water temp. they will vary in color from brown to green to orange if you happen to see some that will help. also check your live wells if you have a keeper in there as they usually spit some up they will tell you what they're eating. I got a little long winded but force yourself to stick with it and you will catch your biggest fish that way. Hope that helps.

just buy the green but a tip from KVD is to take a large black marker and run about 8-10feet of line with it over your black marker. the important thing about the color of your line is for you to see when the UV light has effected it's strength and effectiveness and when to cut off or replace it just something to think about.

Take it back to Bass Pro and tell them they spooled it incorrectly. They should respool it if not when you get on a boat let out all of your line and run for a few minutes and put a little tension on the line as you reel it in. You should never have more line on your spool than an 1/8 inch gap from the top and never reel when you have a fish pulling out drag. You should always close your bail with your hand rather than reeling because that will automatically put 1/2 turn of line twist on to your spool. All these things will be complications that will end up being what is commonly called a birdsnest when you cast out. ( a real pain in the ass) Hope that helps.

coming up on 71 years and fishing about 65 catching most of those with 15 years as a charter captain on lake Michigan and 19 years as a bass tournament fisherman. If you want to be really humbled take up tournament fishing against these young guns coming up . gotta hand it to them they are really something.

I hate with a passion that strong oily taste. A fried gave me a very good clue as to get rid of that. We go down to a lake where we catch 3-4# white bass which are very oily fish . We would fillet them and take a 5 gallon bucket and put a layer of fish put a coating of table salt a layer of fish table salt till you get to the top fill with water and top off with ice and let sit for 12-14 hours then rinse off the filets and freeze them. I can tell you when we get home and thaw a few and put a little beer batter on them and fry them up they taste real good. Don't go short on the garlic powder it goes great. My beer batter I use beer milk garlic powder salt pepper and bisquick it works for me.

Use power pro slick 30 or 40 and if your in clear water put on and fluorocarbon leader. If you use too small of a diameter braid it will not wreck your reel but with back lasses it will be a problem. I've tried 8-10 different braids and the best results I've had with both casting distance and longevity is the power pro slick. I was a charter captain on lake Michigan for 15 years and a bass tournament fisherman for 20 years so I have somewhat of an idea of what I speak. I personally don't like using straight fluorocarbon ( and I've tried almost every brand available ) only on my reels as I feel its too stiff. But that's my opinion. Try things out and form your own opinions. Good luck.

As long as the sun hasn't damaged it you should be good to go. A tip from Van Dam is to Use a Black dry marker on it also I don't know weather that's to make it blend in better or to help with the sun deterioration but either way I'd take 8-10' off the end every year anyway.
