About 25 years ago a buddy of mine and I got paired up with another twosome from MN as we were about to tee off. It was about 9am and the Gophers had just finished their first round, walked off the 18th green and joined us on the first tee for their next round. We exchanged pleasantries and teed off. The MN boys kept complimenting each other down the fairway and conceded short putts on the greens. Each compliment or conceded putt was quickly followed by “Thank you friend” or “Thanks friend”. My buddy and I looked at each other and suspected something was up. This overly polite behavior kept up for the first 3 holes when we caught up to the group in front of us and had to wait for the green to clear as it was a par 3 coming up. One of the Minnesotans explained that due to the fact that you never know with whom you will be paired with as a twosome they are careful about their language. He asked me if I cursed on the golf course? I held up my golf ball and told him “Only when this thing doesn’t f..kin’ listen!” We had a little laugh about that and he explained that their “Thank you friend” translated to “F..k you A$$hole!”. We all adopted the phrase for the remainder of the round and had a great day. We shared a quick beer afterward as the MN boys headed back to the tee to play their 3rd round of the day. My buddy (my youngest boy’s Godfather) and I still use the “Thank you friend” phrase whenever possible. I was going to title this “Thank you friends”, but was concerned I may insult those who read it. 😉
No offense intended!

Too funny. I grew up with "Arnold Palmer" my day played every day of the week, tournaments all over the state, won many of them. I played a minimum of 18 holes 5 days a week and sometimes 36 or more a day since I was 5. We used the same sort of code. You never know what a "stranger" is like and so you are always on your best behavior until you know "who thy are". When it's just me and a buddy I just explain outright what I'm like on the first tee box and let them know if that's a problem I will do my best to behave.
When I'm with my boys it's all about courtesy, honors and mature behavior.

Guys, looking to buy a Roto molded cooler for the boat. Looking for a 65-79 qt. Size.
Hard for me to justify or stomach spending $349 dollars for a Yeti. I see a lot of knock offs on the market. Costco had one. The brand was Coho. I want to say it was more like $200. Of course I didn't pull the trigger and now they no longer carry it. Anyone have any experience with any of these other knock off brands?

I bought the Scheels brand - 70 qt.
$199 compared to $400 for the Yeti brand.
I prechill it the day before and it lasts us Friday-Mon morning in Canada. We bring another smaller cooler for our drinks as it gets opened more.
Same latch system as Yeti's, rubber feet so it doesn't slide around, softer rubber grip handles on heavy duty cord so easy to carry, nice drain plug.
No need to blow money on brand name

Went out looking for crappie and the wind was howling, did bump into a few nice bass. Wendy banks with a crank bait and the fish were dirt shallow. Shallow flats on or near points, 45* water temp.

Any thoughts on listening to music while fishing? Do you? How do you do it? Do you use ear buds or your boat’s sound system? Does it impact your success? Curious.

No tunes in the boat - I'm there to fish and enjoy the quiet or converse with my fishing partner.
Only time my stereo is on in the boat is when it's in the driveway and I'm cleaning it, organizing or just putzing around in it.

Watching the sunrise, be it in a deer stand, duck blind, on a boat or on the first tee. The smell of birch bark or leaves as they fall gently to the ground. The genuine surprised look on the face of a stranger after you helped them for no apparent reason. The call of a loon as it swims across a lake at sunset. The look on the face of a child catching their first fish. The unconditional love of a baby or a dog when you come home from work after a trying day. The absolute joy of watching a good hunting dog in action. The whistling of the wings from a flock of ducks as they pass overhead, 2 minutes before legal shooting hours.

I took a date duck hunting once. NOTHING prettier than watching the sun come up, see the world come to life, hear the pheasants cackling and hearing the whistling rush of duck feathers over your head.

makin that perfect cast--below the bushes, instead of in them--LOL

I like the second one in particular. A number of years ago I took a job in the hometown where I grew up which was 87 miles away. I had thought I might decide to move back "home" depending on how the job went etc.
From the home I was living in to my office there were 38 stoplights. Now, leaving home at 5:30am every morning usually worked pretty well in terms of "makin every light on green" but one morning, I showed up at our weekly staff mtg with the Superintendent and must have looked a little "agitated" He asks what's wrong and I reply, " I have 38 stoplights between my house and my office and i hit every F-ckin one of them this morning!" Man did he laugh

I am not optimistic the border will be open by June either.

The two country leaders are meeting today, maybe the border will be part of the discussion . . . OK, I guess that was a pretty optimistic thing to say!

I am not optimistic that the border will be open by June . . . but hopeful.

Maybe build a bridge from MN to Canada instead of New York to Canada - oh wait, we already have one.
I met yet ANOTHER person who owns a resort up there by the border - this is killing folks on both sides.
It IS interesting, my brother in law was in South Padre and said they just walked back and forth to Mexico easy peasey all last week - I guess if Mexico were closer and had the same kind of fishing and scenery I could move to Texas and stop griping

I think it is like watching the Football post game. Just reminds you of the fun and excitement you had initially. Not sure it has ever increased my success, but it is fun to go back to last summer or the summer before and recall either the good luck or the disappointment of the day. For what ever reason, it's just another memory.

Agreed

I remember where I was fishing no matter what lake - my own little OCD world I guess
