I live in central Minnesota lake superior is a hour away very clear water and very cold and cannot use my boat in the winter there. It seldom freezes over. Lake of the woods is my favorite ice fishing destination but because of the virus we cannot go to Canada or the angle inlet unless you drive your snowmobile 50 miles one way.

After watching YouTube videos about underwater drones I ordered the Dory underwater drone. 50 foot cord and wifi boay app to your cell phone. Can be used in freshwater or saltwater and under the ice. Has anyone else used one of these before? I am also planning on getting a flying fishing drone this spring. Can access areas not safety to get my boat into.

I ordered a chasing Dory underwater drone. 50 foot tether bouy on surface transmits video to Now I need a flying fishing drone your cell phone. It can be used in freshwater or saltwater and under the ice house here. Now I am researching flying fishing drones. Easier than towing my boat behind my RV. And you can fish where there are no boat launches. Lake Superior is where I go often.

I have fished border water on the saint croix river between Minnesota and Wisconsin and never had a problem unless you launch your boat on the Wisconsin side. Lake of the woods and the rainy river between Minnesota and Ontario Canada is a very different story. We can not even cross the border now because of covid-19 . You can take your boat up the northwest angle inlet but it is 50 miles one way. Snowmobiles are also allowed if you trust the ice trail.🛶

I was researching drone fishing and I ordered the chasing Dory underwater drone. It can be used in freshwater or saltwater it has a 50 foot depth and transmits it Video to a surface bouy to your cell phone. Amazon wants $ 512.00 for it I used my points and got it cheaper. You can also use it under the ice which is good in Minnesota where I live. Now I need a flying fishing drone. Not until spring though. Now I can sell some of boats and tell wife am going drone fishing.

I live in Minnesota and ice fishing is the thing here. You need 2" to 4" to walk on check every 50 feet 4 " to 6" for a snowmobile or atv 8" for my one ton truck and ice house and it is never safe. Lost my best friend and fishing hunting partner when he went through the ice on iron lake near ely Minnesota. I have fallen through before walking back to my house it was not deep and I was close but it was -20 below zero my pants were frozen before I got in the ice house. I always wear a life jacket and ice picks to pull yourself out of the water. Then roll to safe ice . I have rescued a dog that was chasing geese on my lake myself and my cousin pushed my job boat out to rescue him. BE CAREFUL

Winter here in Minnesota when the ice goes off my lake I use a black rubber jig with a uncle Josh green and white pork rind . Do not leave the pork rind in your tackle box over the winter believe me I did and will not do it again. Works great in the early spring when the bass are shallow. And I practice catch and release for bass and muskie. Walleye and panfish I eat.🛶

My wife asked me if am going to use my drone golfing now. I thought why not pick the ball off the tee and fly and drop it in the hole. She thinks am nuts and it would probably bother the other golfers.

After more research I am going to add a fishing drone to my fishing arsenal. I used a map and compass for years. Then bought a Loran c when they came out. A green box Lawrence fish detector now I have gps satellite devices on everything. I am going for the drone fishing? I don't know Iif icould legally fly it over Canadian waters from Minnesota. They would probably shoot it down lol.

They are spendy 1,000$ and up mine is just a 300 $ They also make underwater drones with cameras Told my wife about ideas and she asked if I thought I was Jauck Coustoh. I do live close to lake superior and do not like taking my 18 foot crestliner out there because of the weather and lack of good launches. I told her I could fly my .drone off the beaches where I cannot wade or get my boat there safety. One drone can carry a life jacket and drop it to someone in the lake .

I live in Minnesota and fish the saint croix river across from Wisconsin and I have both licenses but it is not needed unless you launch your boat in Wisconsin. Up on lake of the woods and the rainy river you may not cross over the Canadian line without going through a border crossing which not allowed now because of the virus. Screws up fishing there hope this is over soon.🛶

I just looked at drones made just for fishing I never knew that they made them. Can be used in freshwater or saltwater. If they crash they are supposed to upright themselves and fly back to your gps coordinate. It would be much easier than pulling my boat behind my RV. No gas or weed inspections needed and I could launch it wherever there are no launches or have to wait to launch. My wife still thinks that I am nuts. 🛶
