How's the shore fishing around Port Richie?

You may try Sun West Park just north of Hudson. It's a little walk around the lake to the canal but they're catching some nice trout with the gulf cool.

Nice! Looks like a great father-daughter day. 🙂 Did you keep the fish?

My son went as well. The skipper on the charter filleted the fish as I requested. I wanted the skin on all. He did that and bagged the fillets in zip lock baggies with ice. The skipper baited, cast all lines, took off the fish. I have never been pampered like that before.

Hey everybody, heading to Florida from 2/23-3/5 and am curious about charter fishing. We’ll be based in Port Orange, close to Daytona. Boyfriend’s family has a house down there and he has a motorcycle there as well, so we’ll be traveling light - no room for gear. I know absolutely nothing about charter fishing other than you’re on a boat with a guide and some other people. My goal is to catch something exciting and unusual for me. Pretty simple. Does anyone have any suggestions? Recommendations? Is it worth the time and expense? If not, I think I can hit up the neighbor or another family member for some gear and spots, in which case I don’t care what I catch - I just want a fishing fix. 🎣😎🎣 Thank you!

Staying in Zephyrhills area. Looking for info on salt and freshwater fishing. Suggestions welcomed!

I would look for one of the many fishing piers at any coastal city on the gulf coast like the one in Clearwater rents fishing gear / sell bait.

I am going to start saltwater fly fishing, Misquito Lagoon, Fl. Was wondering what are some of the best patterns others are using. Targeting Redfish and Speckle Trout. Every now and again I break out the fly rod and catch some bass. Usually on top water.

Snook will take a fly

You may do better at the power plant outfall canal.

If the water warms and the sun is shining you may even get a Trout to hit a lure over the grass. Don't discount anything till you try it.

New to the area and heard that fishing at Fred Howard Park was a good place to go. Any info about that location would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Water's kinda cold for fishing the grass but you'd probably do better on the bridge. Live shrimp.

A little East of you to the Suwannee River has pretty good panfishing, really good in spring, and it’s scenery is as good as it gets. Several launch spots in Georgia and in Fl. just below state line. Enjoy & Good luck

Suwannee has some good sized ells also.

I’ve typically have been bringing two rods with me. I fish inshore on the gulf. One is a bait caster, best for spoons and lures. I have another spinning set up I’ll mainly use lighter lures on or if I’m using live bait.

I try to stick with just artificial since I think it’s more satisfying but I’ve been messing around with brining 4 rods. One for bait fish and other for fishing with the bait fish.

Currently it’s not the most ideal. Granted I’m using a super heavy, old 8’ salmon rod with a 5000 series reel for this soaking rod. I dig the reel even though it’s a bit overkill for inshore, I like having a heavy set up in case I see some tarpon.

I like the idea of rocking 4 rods but idk it was getting a little crazy. I don’t have one of those crates with the rod holders and idk if I will. I currently have a vibe shearwater, I have two extra rod holders I mainly use with my two main rods.

I don’t have a pedal drive so I don’t like my rod holders in front of me. Once I do get a drive, I think rocking more rods will be easier.

But what do you guys like to go out with? Do you think it’s worth it to get a third nicer rod? (Answer for that is always yes haha but would it make sense)

I’m thinking my third rod is mostly for trolling swim baits or just for swim baits in general. Really dig daiwa or dobyns

2 rods should be enough. Change tackle. I've had a number of yaks and oftentimes just changed tackle. More than 2 rods just was too much trouble!
