Went to Youghegeny river in S W pa to do some trout fishing this is a tail water that runs cold all season,it was recently stocked and some friends went and had good success, however both buddy’s fell in even before starting to fish , they warned me about carrying my phone as not to ruin it if I fell in , I took there advice left the phone in the truck fished for awhile and pulled in a nice fat 14-15 inch rainbow, I like to take pictures but couldn’t,a little later I hooked a fatty that took me to my backing, 5-6-7 minutes later I had a 22-23 inch rainbow in the net and no phone to take pictures I was bummed,I was thinking boy them guys must be uncoordinated or something I’ve been in faster slipperier water what’s the big deal, Done for the day started out of the river and it happened, down I went over my head looking for my flyrod panicking and GLAD I DIDNT TAKE THE PHONE at least it was refreshing 😂😂😂

My fly fishing buddies and I have always heard good things about the Little "J" and have set aside a fish camp
out there next week (hopefully it will stay cool and we get some rain). We usually fish the eastern and northern end of the state. Any recommendations would be helpful. Any especially good runs and any access issues? Thanks.

I’ve been there 4 times this year every where from Tyrone down to the mouth can’t go wrong with any of the numerous spots to pull over and fish usually if you see vehicles that’s a better spot but my personal favorite is parking at the end of mountain rd in Barree and walking all the way into the gorge it’s a huge bend with a high wall on the one side , even if the little parking lot is full go in anyway, I’ve seen it full and fished all day with out seeing another angler streamers in morning switching to nymphing after sun is up and drys later in the day through evening, I’ll be there somewhere Friday afternoon and evening for the evening hatch here’s a couple pictures from there good luck

Doubt he caught that on a fly rod. A Medusa is a heavy, 3 tailed rubber bait. Would be hard to throw that with a fly rod. Beautiful fish though.

I believe your right as his father told me they fish for musky quite often I doubt to he was using the fly rod the rod on the ground kinda looks like the broken 6 weight martin i gave him but can’t confirm and didn’t ask as its not that important, photos were taken and fish released healthy to fight another day
