I've been retired now just over two years and things were changing so quickly when I left I can't imagine what it must be like now. My "mentor" and fishing buddy Gary Hughes is being forced into retirement because of it. He's the best mechanic I've ever worked with, but he can no longer deal with the electronics theory and applications, so he feels kinda worthless in this modern world. I know how he feels.
No doubt, there are some nice trout in that lake. And they're sure proud of em. The prices! My intro to this lake was several years ago. Fishing from the bank and the heavy hitters were just beyond my casting distance. But several other folks there with some long rods and light line were killing em with a wooly booger behind a casting bubble. Oh my!

Quit fooling yourselves. They were no different back then than they are today. Ty Cobb? A psychopath. Babe Ruth? A drunkard. I could go on and on, but what's the point? I love the game, always have. Worthy heroes? I think not. Took my 6 or so son to a Padres game, he so badly wanted Johnny Bench's autograph. We got there early and we went to the Red's dugout. Most of the players were super nice, but when we told them why we were there we were told not to waste our time J.B. never gives autographs. The kid persisted, but when Bench showed up he ignored us. We went over to the Padres side and got some rooky's autograph. Turns out it was Ozzie Smith. So. Ya just never know, do ya? I wonder if he went off to St. Louis and became self righteous prick?
Haven't been down there since '98, but El Cap used to be a fantastic crappie lake.
