River is high, fast and blown out right now. Lots of debris and off color.
Let us know how you did. I'm thinking of trying cranberry this week. Weather is supposed to start getting nice.
Since they just dumped 5000 trout into Cranberry you might try that.
Its real but not a record. Im holding it straight out for the illusion, LOL. It was about an 8 incher though so bigger than normal.
Yes Sport. There is a crab feed through out the day. I think every body has a good time except the crabs 🦀. They are volunteers and sacrifice so much. Basically, they are voluntold.
The crab races are very fun. It's a weekend event. A crab derby where there are crabs marked to be worth 100 dollars. One crab is worth a $1000. I baited my pot with pink salmon. I caught 4 Dungeness and 4 rocks in the day but they were too small. I will be back to conquer the day!!
Went to the crab 🦀 races in Westport, WA this weekend. A good time was had by all!!
Here is the WA state record Walleye. A buddy of mine caught it
Try or Walleyes where the Snake River dumps into the Columbia.
The state record Walleye was caught in that area in February. If I remember it was a J14 Rapala on a bottom walker
When you are fishing Roosevelt at that time also try the area called Split Rock. Its on the right side, can't miss it. It would be heading north from where the Spokane River dumps into Roosevelt. Ive fished Roosevelt at least 50 times (used to live in Spokane) and that area has been good for me in May. Don't be surprised if you hook up a 6-8 lb bow. Troll both sides of that rock, lead line 4 colors, dodger with orange kekada fly or muddler minnow green/brown works well. Tie those flies only about 12 inches behind the dodger. Make S curves all along that shore. In other words, troll like a drunken sailor. You can also find walleyes there. Also good is the bay leading into Hawk Creek. Good luck.
May is a good time for Mackinaw (Lake Trout) at Priest Lake. Besides good fishing it is very beautiful and not crowded. Down rigger or drop shot. You will be fishing at 130 feet or more. North side of Bartoo Island always produces for me. The 3 to 8 pound macks are delicious.
Hiway 20 to Sterling Road to where it curves right at the river. Park at the curve, short hike in to the river. They haven't opened for Steelhead yet. Probably February if they get enough brood stock back before then
