I like crickets for live bait. Beetle spins, inline spinnerss, and small jig baits work well, too
I ran into that on the Cumberland in KY. They were trying to flush the oxygen-poor water from the lake. The sluice gates at the dam were spewing water. The guide said it'd last a couple of weeks, and then the river would be back to the normal level.

Do they allow gas motors on boats?
They don't allow gas motors at Lake Varner.
Hi all,
At the end of September, I'll be drift boat fishing the Cumberland River in Kentucky below the dam at Lake Cumberland. I'll be fly fishing and using a spinning rod and reel. Does anyone have a recommendation on lures for the spinner? Thanks!
Chris
For the first time, I have a boat that is not a kayak, so this weekend will be my first "back down a boat ramp" experience. I have a little popo up camper, so I can back a small trailer, but your suggestions are all great! Thanks, gang!
Good inshore fishing, too, at Tybee Creek and Bull River. I've caught croakers, redfish, and flounder in the grass flats. There are some nice sheepshead around the docks, too. Berkley and DOA shrimp baits, Berkley jerk shad, Berkley ripple mullets, flounder rigs, spoons, and topwater lures have worked well for me for artificial lures. I use mostly shrimp and mullet for cut bait. I don't do live bait, because I don't have room on my kayak for a live well. I usually go with molting colors for the shrimp and bright stuff for the other soft plastics.
Try Jackson Lake and Lake Juliette
Are you fishing from a boat or the shore?
I think Bondo makes a marine epoxy resin.
