My wife is fine with it, and encourages me to get out often to enjoy any outdoor passions that I pursue such as fishing, kayaking and golf to name a few. We worked together running a business side by side for almost 35 years, and while we never tire of each other, we both know that spending time alone is something we both enjoy doing as well.
On occasion, she does join me to fish, which is a real thrill, but when it comes to reeling in fish, or the act of fishing, she tells me that it just does not excite her at all. That is hard to imagine and digest for somebody that is passionate about fishing...but as I have often heard..."opposites attract!"
Just got home from spending the day out 4 wheeling, and that is something that she can really sink her teeth into. We only ran about 40 miles (took 5 hours), but managed to drive thru plenty of "sippee holes", steep hills, technical navigation, sand bogs and even some easy stuff now and then! She is also my favorite kayaking "buddy". In the grand scheme of things, I consider myself a very blessed person being married to her now for the past 37 years. Frankly, without her in my life, my opportunities to go fishing, or pursue other interests, would probably be far less...if that makes any sense! She has helped knock a lot of rough edges off me as we have journeyed through life together as a team.
If you are wondering what a "sippee hole" is...it's a "yooper" term (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) for small mucky swamp holes that could be in your trail that may or may not have any bottom to them. The first person enters carefully, and if all goes well they make it thru. If you get stuck and only have the handlebars showing, while standing on your seat, then those who are following stay put! Time to get the winches out! Both of our rigs are equipped with heavy duty winches, and we have had to use them on more than one occasion!
