So far no info on conditions on the west coast. Fires have impacted many areas. It
would be nice to know where to enjoy a day on the stream or river.

Here in northern California the entire area has smoke anywhere from 150 ppm to 500 all of which you don't want to spend too much time outdoors. I was going to striper fish this week end in San Francisco bay but due to the smoke.......No

My information comes from a long time California outdoor reporter Tom Stienstra, Who has done more to promote and protect fishing in California than anybody.

In Florida, persons over the age of 65 are exempt for holding a current fishing license.
Question (1) I don't know if this is applicable to "Extra" stamps for lobster, tarpon etc.

Question(2) Does over age 65 apply to vessel / kayak fishing exemption from a FL fishing license and Stamps?

Question (3) Is this age waiver - over age 65, applicable to other states?
Specifically Coast of California, Louisiana, lakes and rivers in or near Atlanta, GA, all states up the east coast of USA?

Thanks!

Always made me a little angry fishing out of state and buying " Non resident" license. I would like to see a universal system like a Drivers license, with small fees to go out of state. I think the current system stops some from fishing out of state. The poor people who fish near the Montana, Wyoming , south Dakota border need three lic in some cases. One summer/Fall I fished 10 states, buying all the needed license for that was crazy expensive. When people travel to fish they bring money to the local economy.

Made it to Wright's lake today. No smoke in the air from Calif. burning up. The water levels were lower then I expected. Need a boat to reach deep enough water to get any action. The creek had pools of still water and no flow. NOT A BITE but beautiful forest. Wanted to post a stringer of Trout for y'all.

Our friends had a cabin on the lake. My Dad fished there in the 1940s and 50s. Limit back then was 50 and if wanted, you could catch 50. Most people kept what they could eat and maybe take some smoked trout home, so plent to go around.

My cousin who is Mr Fish in my book went out Wednesday SF Bay around Bodega. We’ve seen alot of boats in town coming and going so Salmon are running for their lives.

That is a spectacular catch by any anyone who fishes Bodega. This salmon season so far has been outstanding out of the golden gate and Bodega. Typical week-end at Bodega has 100 plus boat launching. Looks like your uncle was at 10 mile ? It's about time for that to go off. 10 mile beach is a place that while trolling or mooching near shore in shallow water you pick up Salmon and Halibut.

I've been salmon fishing bodega bay for 40 years. Right now the prime season is starting and runs through August with Sept , oct still catching some fish. One of the appeals of bodega is the fishing grounds start right outside the harbor entrance with prime grounds 1-2 miles spreading to 10-15 miles. Sea condition are somewhat predictable with less wind in the AM picking up by Noon making for very "Bumpy " conditions, tall steep waves that will make the most hardened angler feel " green ". But there are days when it was like a bath tub all day long. The other reason is the average catch rates are good with good size fish 10-20lb common and many 30's and the occasional " Hog" at 40.

I’ve gone out to my local river at least 10 times in the past two weeks and while the people around me are pulling trout out of the river, I’m not even getting bites. I’ve watched the majority of the New Fly Fisher, Orvis, and Rio tutorial videos and I feel as though I am doing exactly what they taught me in the video, but still no fish. I live in the northeast and I’ve been using flies that are supposedly good for the area.

For dry flies, I either quarter upstream or downstream and dead drift the flies while maintaining a drag free drift.

For nymphs, I use an indicator rig and I quarter upstream with a reach cast for the mend and then let if drift downstream.

For streamers, I mainly use wooly buggers and I either cast across the current and strip the line in or I quarter downstream or cast across and just let the streamer drift. Once the swing stops, I strip the streamer in a bit.

Are any of my descriptions incorrect? If so, what am I doing wrong and why am I not even getting bites?

Thanks!!

Your on the right track. I focus on presentation when not getting hits that's most important. If I know i'm presenting well i get satifaction in knowing that. After 50 years I'm still learning and that's also a big part.

I get a fishing news letter via e-mail from the California fish & wildlife and it contains the planting schedule

says don't be shy , so here goes. Just bought a boat with an 115 evinrude outboard want to change water impeller? I've done them on a inboard outboard. From what i've read the shifting rod is somewhere under the carb? is this pretty easy to put back togather? don't want to start something i cant finsh. if anyone can send me a little insight would be appericated thanks

I just changed the impeller on my 1988 johnson 90. The youtube video showed the shifter rod connection under the carb and recommend you remove it. Well I did, but did not need to. There was a shaft with the pin that needed to be removed right next to the carb. Appearently this was a pain in the ass so Evirude fix it. Really simple if yours is the same.
