$23 bucks and a skunk in to boot. Dang Saw. It just wasn’t your day. Good to get out though. No doubt in my mind you will make up for it in the near future when you catch a boat load. Tight lines

Great memories BK. Shared the boat with my boy for many years while he was growing up. Can’t remember all the times he cleaned my clock. Then he got married and had children of his own and now I may get to fish with him once a year if I’m lucky. But he sure enjoys telling me about him taking his kids fishing.

Overcast and 58°when we hit the ramp this morning, water temperature 66°-67°, wind 8-10 out of the east. Club tournament today but not too crowded. Started in my usual cove, but leaves and alge on the surface limited lure choices. When in doubt, throw a worm. Caught 3 Largemouth but the biggest was only 1.5lb. Headed south, working the eastern shoreline,to escape the breeze. NADA. Pulled into Pond Brook and worked the 6 docks at the mouth. After a couple small Gills, hooked a nice 2 pounder. When I got him in the boat, I discovered a Dropshot hook through his nose, with an inch of cut mono hanging off it. After pulling my EWG hook from his jaw, I smashed the barb down on the other hook and cleanly removed it. I don't understand why the owner didn't do that, or cut the hook itself??? Went looking for Smallmouth in the Shepaug arm, but only found one little guy. Marked fish deep, but neither a Dropshot, or a Ned Craw drew any interest. When the darker clouds started blowing in, I called it. 5 in the boat, but only 2 decent ones. Green Pumpkin and June Bug Dingers, weightless on an EWG Trokar , and Green Pumpkin Party, and June Bug Generals, rigged Wacky, were the only things they wanted today.

Great work Fred. Always good to come in with a limit. Love the pics.

My primary lake (Lake of the Ozarks) is covered with boat docks; therefore, the fish congregate in and around these structure pieces. I try to match the hatch with a jig and trailer combination. Right now I have changed over to a 1/2 oz white swim jig with a white or pearl net bait paca chunk trailer. Reason: Fish are now relating to shad for their primary source of food.
At other times I throw a 1/2 oz green pumpkin swim jig with a green pumpkin paca chunk trailer with the tips of the chunk highlighted with orange; thus, imitating a craw dad.
At the time of the bluegill spawn I will throw a blk/blu swim jig with a kentucky special paca chunk trailer. Or a green pumkin 1/2 oz swim jig with a green pumpkin paca chunk trailer with the tips dyed chartreuse-thus mimicking the baby bluegill.

Nice catching Eye, and thanks for the info. Hoping to get out Saturday.

Good deal Fred. Not sure what the Shad are doing in your area, but it could mean the difference.
Good luck Saturday.

Nice job Eye. I'm heading back to the Lilly pond. Found out I can launch. Found a place I can get close to water to unload n the park boss showed where I could park about 30 yds away. I do have a couple watermelon red flake tube. Tossed in a couple caffeine shad. If I don't get stuck in the pads it will be a good day brother. I'd settle for any one of your 3. Have a good evening

Good deal Griz. Hope you catch em man.

With the Shad moving into the backs of the coves the bigger fish seem to be hanging on the most secluded dock in the coves. I caught several under the docks on the sides of the docks. Used a green pumpkin 4” big bite bait tube in green pumpkin and a sparkle black white & silver tube thrown on an unpegged 5/16 oz sinker and a 5/0 gamakatsu flipping hook. My three best fish weighed just under 14 pounds.

A Double uni knot is dependable for this and for leader lines.

1/2 oz black buzz bait on heavy line.
White 1/2 oz jig with white paca chunk trailer.
1/2 or 1/4 oz blue over chrome rattle trap.
1.5 square bill in Shad in clear water, black back over yellow if heavily stained. (Especially around wood-laydowns)
Green pumpkin zoom finesse worm on 1/8 oz shaky head jig on 8 lb test with 6’ leader tied to 15 lb braid.

Match the hatch. When the weather cools large groups of shad go into the backs of the coves. Later in the day especially after it’s sunny use a quarter ounce rattle trap with either a blue or black back on a chrome body and throw passed the schooling shed and bring back underneath them; you will either catch whites or black bass, as they group together.
In addition, Fish a wacky rigged green pumpkin or Shad colored senko on the outside dock corners on 10 pound test, especially on the deeper condo docs.

Heavy rains cause the lake to rise. When the lake rises, it covers the bushes. fish go to the bushes to feed on the existing insects bugs & whatever else there is. I have always had good luck in fishing shallow and in the last third of coves where Creeks come in.

I agree with you Ec on the changes that have erupted on the stage with half of the main topics section being put on by admin just as topic starters. It needs to go back to what it started out being with members discussing the activities of the day fishing and advice for those looking for constructive help. It was called fishing stage for a reason. IMHO

Thank you sir. I received a lot of grief the last time I brought this up several months ago. I was informed this was a “social board”.
I have posted vey little since that time. Several friends and colleagues on this site private msg me for info about “fishing”. I’m always happy to share.

That sounds inviting Griz. The frog bite is on right now. I am catching quality fish around flooded grass; lake of the Ozarks doesn’t possess any lily pads anymore. Just a suggestion, you might try a zoom mag finesse worm in green pumpkin green on a 3/16 oz shaky head jig. Just pitch it to the edge of the pads, let it sink. Shake it and then hop it and shake it again. I dip the very tip in chartreuse dye. There is a picture of it in this post. Hope you have a productive trip, my friend.
