I recall a few years back catching a 24" chain pickerel, I put it on the ice and hours later when stiff as a board put it in some over flow water, within minutes it was swimming.?????? so who knows.
I'm with egghead but I throw in a light sweat shirt for those warm sunny days.
Fish like the thermocline even under the ice an inexpensive fish finder will help you
locate this depth fish bait fish every thing will be there.

Not sure why you need a tray. I collect pill bottles from friends in different sizes and mark them hooks by size, jigs by size, even small lures and if the fall overboard they float. I keep it all in a small soft side cooler.
Here in N.E. Pa. I do a lot of ice fishing. Never go alone or when no one else is on the ice. I catch many LM Bass thru the ice usually close to shore or large structures ie trees logs or rock piles. Use 3-4" shiners on tip ups mid way between the ice and bottom.
I have a 16 foot Tracker pro v with a 60 hp merc four stroke it's very quiet fast and smooth.
Those are a true work of art. I would be almost afraid to fish them.
