Skunked for the 5th day in a row, new rod got delivered broken, just snapped my current rod, feel like quitting. I just want to fish and it seems like everything’s getting in my way.

Will maybe you could try what baseball players do to break a slump. Hit the bar. Try as hard as you can to drink it dry. Leave at 2 am with the ugliest woman in town. Wake up early. Look at the woman in your bed and go fishing. The thought that no fish could cause you to repeat last night will put a limit in your lap in no time at all.
Ain't no ugly women in the bar at 2 am and your chit faced. Take it from a old salt.
Will: Don't take their advice. Stay out of the bars! Just think, you've experienced 5 days of dry run, you are getting closer and closer to a bonanza of catching fish. Just keep at it and your luck will turn. Have you given any thought to trying live bait? Minnows, Worms, or other. Are you fishing fresh or salt water. If salt water, try to give the fish a chance with live shrimp, crabs, or mullet. Just Sayin...RJS

Sorry to hear about the run of "bad luck", but be grateful that you were able to get out 5 days in a row. I havent been out in weeks and don't see that changing in the near future. Good luck out there and I hope the 6th day is the streak-breaker.

If the weather was good and the company was good then you had a decent five days. My fishing buddy and I have had many days with no fish but we saw an Eagle catch a fish, (so we knew they were there just not on our hook)we saw a Squirrel swim across the lake. So many more good things happen when fishing (not catching) that we were still happy to have been out that day.
There have been days when I wonder “ what am I doing here? “
Give it a break. Regroup and hit it again.
It will eventually come together.
You are lucky you can get out, here in Iowa the ice is 6 to 8 inches deep at the bottom of the boat ramps in most places !

Sounds to me like you need to do one or two new things, or BOTH maybe.
First, maybe try a different type of bait/lure.
Second, try a new area.
If the fish aren't where you're fishin it's not gonna matter what you use, how long you stay or how many days in a row you fish. Gotta find the fish first.
One of the first rules in catchin fish is" Don't leave fish to find fish". Unless you are tourney fishin and all the fish you're catchin are little ones, then move and find bigger ones.
However, you gotta find the fish first.

Have a stiff drink, buya new rod and get your butt back out there exepecting to kill fish,
Saw 1 gave good advice. You can fill your bath tube and put aside it a comfortable chair and sit their for a month with every bait ever made and you wont catch any fish. because there are no fish in the tub. There are times when you just have to accept the facts. I don't know where you are fishing and what you are fishing for but if fresh water, try going back to basics. Put a bobber on your line with a nice juicy crawler and keep the bait 1 foot from the bottom. If you don't get any bites there are simply no fish in that area. Move to another area and if it continues change ponds. We have all gone through dry spells. Just think how good you will feel when you finally strike gold, the 5 tries will seem unimportant.
5 days in a row on the water sounds like a win to me.

That's when you pray you're at her house so she can't find her way back to yours.
