Hi Tony,
Thanks for the info on the shiners. We'll give them a try.
boatmaster53,
Thanks for confirming that. Us seniors do get some perks. Don't know how I could make it without medicare.
Thanks, boatmaster. We'll probably try Walmart for the license when we get into the area. I'm a Florida resident over 65, and I think I'm OK without a license. Is that true?
flbigo12,
Looks like you are a local. Glad to have your advice. Thanks for sharing.
Tony,
I guess I'll need a net for bass that big! What a shame. Thanks for sharing. I'll send pictures.
boatmaster, really appreciate the info. Thanks for sharing. BTW do you know how my non-resident fishing buddy can get a license?
Gary,
Thanks for the info. Notice you are not in Florida. Do you visit often?
Hey Willitson 399,
Check out Tavernier Island, just offshore on the ocean side about 1 1/2 miles. There's a good bonefish flat on the North side in shallow water. There's lots of food for the bones. Also, go out to the 8 foot deep area and you will find Tarpon and other species there. The motel that's right on the canal closest to the inlet has a good restaurant, especially good breakfast. You can launch your boat across the street on the bay side. Send us some photos.
Good for a chuckle. Thanks.
I'm not judgmental about used. I certainly was well used. Good for the Goose, Good for the Gander. Live and let live.
Good one. Way back in 1972 my girlfriend's ex ask me how I liked the used stuff. I told him, " not bad once you get past the used part". Wish we had cellphones with cameras back then. The look on his face was priceless. Had to keep an eye on him just to be vigilant for a few minutes.
Hawk,
Thanks for the tip. We actually have had two full moons last month. Missed them both. I'll try in November.
Robert,
Made me laugh, but you are probably right. Might be dangerous out at night in a kayak.
I live on Key Biscayne with Biscayne Bay on the west side of the island and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Does anyone know when the shrimp start to run and how to catch (net) them. I have an Ocean Kayak, or I can wade out on the flats at low tide.
Thanks.
Chick,
Great fish! I had forgotten how big they get. We have a cabin on the Scott River in N. California, and the salmon spawn right in front of our porch. But they're not that big. I grew up on the Sacramento River in Redding, California, and the big Chinook used to be so thick there they would knock you down when wading.
Hope you catch some more and tell us how to smoke them.
