My wife and I left South Texas for a month long camping trip. We stopped in Sarasota, Wyoming for breakfast after camping in the Snowy Range for a few days. Right behind the restaurant was the North Platt River and next door to the restaurant was a fishing outfitter. We heard the young lady serving us talking about going camping so we inquired about some more camping sites near there. She wrote down three of them for us. We camped a one for three days but there was no creek or river near. She told how to get to a very remote place on the North Platt River so we bought two spinning rigs and some Panther Martin lures and found the most beautiful campsite we’ve ever seen. We stayed 5 days there and we both caught our first freshwater trout. My wife caught the first and largest but I caught the most. The large one my wife caught was 11 inches, quite a bit different from what we are used to catching where we live. I’ve been reading on the Stage about all of you fishermen fishing for trout with fly rods. There were 4 fly fishermen fishing the river and these fellows knew what they were doing. We saw a few 18-20” fish caught by them.
It’s a heck of a long way from home for us and someday we hope to return if it’s in the cards so to speak. Both of us are proud to say we’ve caught wild freshwater trout now😎👍

Try to make short but enough to know who I am. I’m not going into the I was born here etc. I am a proud US Navy Vietnam era Veteran, there was a time when i was addicted to bass fishing, got away from it and started visiting the gulf coast in south Texas and got addicted to the sea. You see in my ID it says Preacher Man, I am a licensed minister, I can marry and bury. I have a 1967 Chevelle that I enjoy playing with it, my wife is not real fond of it, my son (38) loves it. I enjoy working with people, I just retired from the VA as an Addiction Therapist, helped the Veteran who was suffering with the addiction of Alcohol and Drugs. That’s a short story about Preacher Man, time to get ready to head south for some salt water fishing.

I’m new to salt water fishing. I have an 18’ aluminum center counsel duracraft trying to learn some bay fishing.
Fished San Louis pass some and the intercostal east of Matagorda.

I’ve heard good reports about Clear Lake and surrounding tributaries that come out of Galveston bay heading up towards Houston. I’m interested in learning and hearing information on this area as it’s a little closer to home and looks like it might be more protected from the wind?

Interested in learning artifical bates and best live bate techniques for this area and good boat launch locations.
