. Good looking fish Callturkey, I'm chewing at the bit to get back on the water. Went to look at my spots a couple days ago some of it is open but the access points still have very thin ice .now this cold snap is settling in . Won't be much longer I hope and the frogs go back to work . Stay safe out there and thanks for the encouraging pics. 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲

Thank you Andy.
I was going to leave the house about 6 this morning to go to Harrisburg to fish the main branch, unfortunately, it was flurring and wind, coffee sounded much better.
Temperature is to come back up in to the upper 40's or so, I'll be ready to get back out.
Guys are saying the walleye are hitting.
Stay safe!!!

Nice ones Turk! It was 65 degrees here today.

Wow Jim, I'm ready for that! I see the long-range forecast shows the temperatures creeping up, but nothing like that yet.
65 would feel good on the bones!

I envy you. I have finally reached a point where I no longer fish if the temp is under 50. That was the temp set by my 80 year old fishing partner. It is time to follow suit. My broken body and artificial joints just can not handle the pain. ( Under the right circumstance, I may still cheat.)
I am not complaining. It just is what it is. I am alive and very active in warmer weather. During the winter, I replenish my fly and wire lure supplies at the workbench. I also get to create new spinners and attractors during the winter. A real positive side of things, is that I can fish spinners very deep. A snag and lost lure is only a few penny set back. My wife got me a soft bait and mold making kit as well as a hard bait making kit, so that opens a whole new winter activity. I already pour my own lead weights, dart type herring, and several different types of jigs, in the spring when it is warm enough to do it outside. Again, it is great to fish jigs and darts right in the rocks for lingcod, as the snagged darts are only a few pennies more than the cost of the lead. The way I fish, if I were to buy Point Wilson Darts, I would spend over $60 on any given trip. Same as my fishing buddy or grandson. That could be over $200 a trip vs. under $10. I can usually buy scrap lead at $.90 per pound. I usually find wheel weight lead at $.50 per pound with 20% waist. It is all good. Based on past stage comments, I am very careful casting lead. I always cast outside in a breeze and stay upwind. I am out in the country, so not bothering my neighbor.
I envy you. I have finally reached a point where ... (show quote)

That's alot to keep you busy. I do have some jig and sinker molds from most likely 50 years ago or so.
I can see you're pacing yourself, which is very good.
I need to take care of everything around the house now, inside and out, so once I get wife situated and she says go, I'm gone!
I was never much for fishing in the winter but found it keeps me moving.
I use to fish native trout in several streams close to where I use to live. They're even getting hard to find.
My wife bought me a boat when I retired and I put it to use. I have to many friends that bought boats one year and in about 2 to 3 years they had them up for sale.
I always figure of I could work in the cold I can fish and hunt. The hunting has slowed down a bit but I'm compansating with fishing now.
I'm well into my 60's now, I'm not sure how I'm going to feel at 80, if the Good Lord let's me make it that far.
Take care, God Bless, stay active!!!!

Thank ya Papa and Fred. Looked out side this morning and it's raining here. My wife said "what ya gonna do now"? I told her look for my rain suit.
Looks like it may get in to the upper 40's in the forecast.
Have a great day everyone!

Yes, I agree. we're to get some rain but have some warm weather. Hope we don't return to those cold temps we ha last month. As long as the ice stays off the water I'm going to get out.
Got my fishing license this morning so I'm good to go.

This year we did the first week of June, and caught some leftover spring wind and rain. We tried again at the end of September, and caught a little fall chilly weather. We're moving a little deeper into summer to hopefully catch some warmer, sunnier days. I'll post an Announcement in a month or so, so everyone has time to arrange their schedules.

I'm retired brother, I go everytime I can get out, or wife says "don't you want to go fishing today",
Which is like almost every day.
Thanks again Fred, I'll need to watch out for that. Like I said, the time's I've been down there I've done good.
