And Marvin

You need a girl in the background to distract us from that bait.

Yummy! Nicely done Bric! Cracked me up when you said the water was getting really warm at 73°. Down here this time of year water temp can get to 90°+ esp. in the shallows.🥵

Me too. I’d be please to see that. My water is so hot. How hot you ask? 90 degrees and I have 10 days of upper 90 degree days with some predicted to be 100 plus. Water so hot the weeds in the lake are dying. No rain predicted.

Too hot. But I coaxed one up Saturday.

Hi J
I haven’t tried a Hula but will have to try that. Thanks!

We went out again on Friday nite and I got another good one. This one was 4.43lbs and caught on a Chatterbait which has been our money lure for the last 2 years.

Great catch. I have some success with the chatterbaits. Not sure I found the best retrieve. Biggest bass were caught fast and skipping along shoreline for a top water strike. Really like the long distance it casts vs. spinners that can catch air and drop short.

Great craftmanship! Thanks for sharing pics. Way out of my league, but would be fun to take it to the boundry water. How heavy did it end up weighing?

The two of them hoisted it up on the truck easily.

Tell your BIL and nephew what a beautiful canoe they built. What an accomplishment in 3 weeks. I built a strip kayak from scratch using my table saw, router table, and planer to make the cedar strips but I took three years to complete the boat. It was very satisfying for me the day I launched it for the first time. I, like them love working with wood. Here are some photos of my kayak😎👍

That is impressive also. Great work. It looks like a fish photo bombed the picture of the kayak on the bank.

I have had success with cats and gills at August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area not far from you.
There is a lot of the Meramec River in your country along with a Meramec State Park or conservation area also. Haven’t fished there.

Great job, always wanted to build a canoe or a yak but never got around to it, not enough space here. Thanks for sharing your work, with 3 layers of glass and epoxy it should be really rugged, last a lifetime!

Yes, you need a lot of space to move 20’ lumber around and rip it down into strips. The whole support frame has to be bolted down to the floor and perfectly square. I have heard a lot about it and expect to hear about the build issues for some time. Quite a story.

Wow! That's a masterpiece; I'd be nervous just moving it around for fear of it getting scratched or dented, never mind even getting it on the water! Was the launch in the video its initial sea trial?

Yes. Built a rack on the truck and then the next shots are the sea trial.
Seats needed to be lowered. Other than that it handled great.

The video shows a just little of the total construction process. There are three layers inside and out of a fiberglass and epoxy. It should be pretty durable.

So my brother-in-law and nephew made a canoe. It was part of a kit. Not complete. Missing 120 of the 20 foot pieces and more. Can you say over achievers. I just say wow. Building event was planned for two years and completed in three weeks. Besides the partial kit everything was hand made in the barn.

120 hours of hard labor. I already asked. They aren’t accepting orders and it is a once in a lifetime thing not to be repeated.

Hope the link works.

All I caught today is a dinner plate size turtle. It was a good fight and for a short time I wasn’t sure what I hooked into. Thought I might have a big catfish. It really had some moves rolling over and diving into logs.

Well it has been since early spring since I have been skunked but yesterday was the day. It has been very hot here and the fishing has been very slow. However I have still managed to land a few until yesterday. Oh well so it goes.

I gave up on bass today, coolest day all week, but water at 88. Targeted some carp with corn. Caught a dinner plate sized soft shell turtle.
