Well if you remember or saw my post last week of me filling my tag I mentioned of trying to help my dad get his buck. I attached a pic of a big spilt brow buck. This time of year things can change daily as the we get closer to the rut. That being said this other buck showed up Tuesday and while dad was on stand he watched from a distance them shoving each other around pretty heavily. Forward to this morning we had a heavy rain so I went around 11:00 checked cameras and saw the new buck heading into bedding area. Called dad told him Iโd bet heโs be back thru same way he went in this morning and he came right back around 5:30 and my dad made a great shot and deer expired quickly in about 75 yards. Real dandy 5x6 or 11 pt however itโs a stud

Congrats to a beautiful buck .
Here on the west Coast we would call that a 6x5 and we count the eye guards.
Wish our deer ๐ฆ got that big here in California. Biggest body deer that I have shoot in California was 140lbs field dress.
Glad you and your Dad have got some good eating Backstraps ๐
Are you only aloud 1deer a year or can you shoot more here we can shoot one with a rifle and and one with a bow.
Should be a great opening
Thursday day night around 11:30 till 12:00 midnight I heard Specks flying over the house ๐ they wete talking like crazy and Monday after two flights โ๏ธ of whooping Cranes few over the the house of about 100 in each flight.

I went to the cwf dinner this past year. I had been part of the team putting on the event in Palo Alto for several years before I moved down to SoCal. Different vibe for sure, but I still love bring with a group of hunters! And, I got a great heads up on a place down here to process wild game! Brees Meats!
Going up I learned how to Duck hunt at Wester Refuge down by the Salton Sea.
Shot alot of ducks and Snow Geese down there.
We would hunt Saturday and Sunday.
And when the birds were down we would hunt Saturday, Sunday and Wensday.
I'll go down once a year if the boys get drawn.
Now I hunt the grasslands up here.
Going to Mendoda on the 21st been hunting that for years also.
And all the Refuges off 165 and the refuges up North grasslands.
Duck season is my Christmas ๐.
If you ever have any questions on Wister or San Jack text me.
Good Hunting

I haven't fished here since around the early 80s. It looked good with calm weather , been here early morning but I think I'm going to go try the bigger lake , using squid to see if any cats take it , overall it's peace of mind that I'm reeling in โ๏ธ
