Good stuff, Wullfy! I haven't seen Jane Goodal in years. She first went to Africa in 1957. She is now 89. That's a long time to "monkey around", ain't it? She has probably brought more light to helping wildlife than any one else. What do ya think?

Wullfy, what a great point you raise today about humility. I'm just a bit hesitant about saying this after Randy's quote from Proverbs. But, like you said, it is a bit hard to be humble when our minds are filled with so much information. So, I suppose we'll just have to try a little harder.

Pam Dee, Many times we've held each others hand here on the forum due to the loss of our K9 friends. We know what you are going through. We understand. We offer our love and our shared grief to you. Time, of course, is the great heeler. Wrap yourself in the memories of you friend. And then, at a time in the future you will find another. I truly believe that God put dogs here for us to love. Stand tall!

Wow! What a great memory that must be, Mr. Samples. I supposed I was fortunate to go to PawPaw's branch and get in a little crawdadin'. PawPaw's dog, Stinker, did get my bacon bait once and swallowed it right down. But, everything worked out alright. The string was hanging out his mouth and I got my bacon back.

Just a quick update. The custom M1 carbine owned by Ranger Jay Banks brought $7000 and the custom silver Colt .45 1911 owned by "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas brought $9000. I should have bought both of them. But, there was only one thing holding me back....... The money.

Mr. Samples, your story brings back many, many memories. Quail hunting, like fishing, was part of growing up for me. And I feel I've been lucky and blessed because of it.

No, I won't go back. The cheapest thing I saw had an estimated three to four thousand dollars and up to $400,000. I do consider myself a collector, but these people are COLLECTORS. I'm just a small potato. Like I said though it was a chance to see and hold items I have only read about. I will watch and probably fantasize what it would be like to have the money to own some of these things. Even us old folk have our dreams.

Yesterday my buddy, Brad Matlock, and I went to Bedford, Texas to the new Rock Island Auction facility. It is an old Walmart store that has been completely remodeled and it is unbelievable. As you enter the building you feel that you being are transported to another time and place. This is their premier auction at the new facility here in Texas and it is the largest auction, to my understanding, in the U.S. The auction this weekend has 2252 different lots, form firearms to walking canes. There was about 75 employees to assist you while you examine each item you wanted to look at. And we did just that. I held and examined several weapons that I had only read about. Captain Manual Gonzaullas, "El Solo Lobo", "Lone Wolf", Texas Rangers, 1911 Colt .45 pistol I held and felt the balance of. And I shouldered Ranger "Jay" Banks' presentation M1 carbine which he used to end the criminal careers of Gene Paul Norris and Bill Humphray. Mr. Samples, this was my once in a life time opportunity to hold some of our Texas history in my own hands and I took it. However, when I got home, Linda asked if I took any pictures. I was so excited, I never thought to take a picture. I am so dumb!
