Every horse story I could get my hands on starting with Black Beauty, Gone with the Wind. My Friend Flicka. A foot thick dictionary that was my grandfather's and a ancient veterinary encyclopedia that was my great grandfather's, it was pretty barbaric. I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up.

I don't pretend to have answers to this. I have held on to my old landline, initially because the alarm system was hooked to it. I have debated cancelling it, $30 a month, and never use it. In doing some research on EMP I noticed that China is expanding their landline systems, Maybe they know something we don't. I think I will keep it a little longer. I know it will be affected by a pulse also but maybe differently, or fixable.

So sorry for your loss, glad you have such strong wonderful memories. The family that plays together stays together in memory. Our family used to gather around Mom at the piano with Dad on Banjo, us kids on our school instruments.
