SPRING CLEANNG?!?!

Every year at about this time, I think of my Great-Grandmother. She was a very German lady. Every year between Christmas and New Years eve, she'd clean her house within an inch of its life, like spring cleaning but at the end of December!

She used to say something that sounded to me like

"Ist unlucky to start die new year mit old dirt!"

Anyone else find any odd quirks in the family that might have come from the old country?

My mother-in-law, straight from southern Italy, years ago introduced me to using Clorox on all cleanings, remembering specifically the floors.
Needed an acid-gas respirator to come into the home at times.
Use it to this day. Works like a charm.
There weren't really any new or old years. If it was a day, we cleaned, then cooked, then cleaned again, then cooked some more.

My wife is a fanatic about cleaning.
I tell her when she's cleaning to dust around stuff.
When you pick it up there's no dust under it.
It would save alot of time 🤣

Loved my trip to Germany. Remember the women out front of their houses scrubbing the sidewalk with a bucket of soapy water and a hand brush!! I usually do the big cleaning before Christmas, then a lighter one after to try to find all those little pine needles and Christmas cookie crumbs you don't want sticking into you on couch, lol!!

Yes, just bought Clorox All purpose cleaner and had to take it back to get Clorox cleaner with bleach!

Y'all remember when a gallon of Clorox cost @ $1.99? Thank Covid for that increase to $8.99 at Target.

Just don't mix it with ammonia, you likely won't make it out of the room.

I like clean, but original PineSol makes me gag, even from the next room or even another floor in the house. Guess I just smelled it waaaay too much as a child. Would rather stick my nose over an ammonia jug than smell PineSol.
But the good news is that there are now a couple of alternative scents to choose.
IMO the chemist who came up with the newer scents should be knighted or given paid time off or at least a monetary bonus....he/she is my hero !
