Just sold my Drift Boat and I'am looking to buy a boat for fishing large lakes . Need stable boat because I have a bad back and can't take a rough ride anymore . When I go out with a Guide I stand up behind the seat , I have much less pain that way. Any suggestions or thoughts on the subject ? Some of you may have the same problem !

Gordon : Thanks for replying , I knew that Charleston Anglers had sold a couple of years ago but I didn't know that they had closed . The jetties are a great place to surf fish also next to the pier , you can fly fish the marsh before you get to Folly Beach on the left side going in , be sure you wear waders because of the sea lice also on the way in you can fish at the boat ramp on the right . They used to be a pier on sullivans island that was hard to get to and run down in the late 90's and early 20's ,then there's Mt. Pleasant pier and as you said Isle of palms pier . I was thinking about trip in a couple of months ,about all of my friends have retired from the Air Base . so fishing and visiting with local friends is what I'll be doing as well as a couple of trips to Tommy Condon's ( I like it there when its cold and they have the fire place going. You used to be able to fish off the Battery also and there' s several bridges you can fish off of and under . It should be fun if my hips and back hold up . Also the Red Fishing is always good at Charleston . Thank You RB

Gordon : Now that Folly Beach pier has closed for repair . Where's the best pier fishing in Charleston ? I retired from the AF Reserves at Charleston AF Base in 2011 . I miss the fishing . Great fly rod fishing for red fish , Surf fishing on both sides of the river and pier fishing . I miss my friends at Charleston Angler and Haddrel's fishing shops as well as a lot of the guides i hired to take me fly fishing for reds. I don't get back there as often as i like . I had a lot of friends at Folly Beach pier that owned boats and also fished from the pier . RB

At 69 years young I've put a lot of miles on both my fishing gear and myself to boot . I used to be a young handsome devil with brand new bright and shinny fishing gear and just look at me now . Old rusty and creak when I walk and I won't even mention what kind of sounds I make when I set down or bend over . So a new and shinny rod and reel is just what the doctor ordered ! So you teach fly fishing ? I started fly fishing when i was @14 I mowed yards to buy a new Eagle Claw Fiberglass rod and a martin reel . In the early 60's in north Ga . Where i lived fly's were hard to come by . We had yeller Hammers , Thunder heads , RC's and hare's ears . that was about it . Bett's had other fly's as well as popping bugs but for a kid 1.00 was high back then . What did you start off with ? RB

What do you think of them and would you buy another one ?I'am thinking about buying another bait caster and just shopping for bits of wisdom here ! General fishing mostly pass and pan fish . Greetings smalljawz : Watts Bar is a great lake loaded with fish . There's lots of places to rent boats or party barges if you don't have a boat . You will love the fishing there . There's a large no. of people that rent the party barges to fish all night long there . Let us know how you make out or if we can help in any way RB
