Not the largest fish, but it was only 3.2lbs which at that time was a record. No camera's, no news reporter, not even a local tv station, came to see it. I was weighed on a set of legal scales, and it tasted the same as smaller crappie. Jigging around some gum trees in the lake, filled with caterpillar's. The fish was popping them when they hit the water. I did have a bit of trouble getting it up out of the water. Then I hit the gunnel with the fish, and it came off the hook and fell in the boat. LUCK!

I used Spyder wire when it first came out, or when I first heard good things about it. I have since moved to 'Power Pro'. For my ultralight (6#) I use the 'Calumus, Bastion'. It is the thinnest line I have found, at only .004" thick. It has a drawback.....trying to tie something you can barly see with these tired old eyes.

I am going to try to remember this

The way I can always remember what side is port, is that left and port are both 4 letters. And the way of green and right are both 5 letters.

Many crashes years ago. Pistol shot in the air and all 100 to 400 boats took off. Today we have only two boats at a time leave at one time. Then after a bit, not sure of the time, another two boats take off.

I have used the fly rod, bait caster, and the spinning reel, not at the same time. I bought my first fly rod combo when I was 11 years old. I still have an issue with the roll cast, but manage. Still learning. If you think a bass hitting your top water bait is fun, hang on, a bass hitting a popper is top shelf.

The basin has two really good spots. Beau bayou and Gravenburg. That is the two I fish, and further west side of the bridge, you have Henderson Lake, and Big Alabama. If your looking for size try Toledo bend, or that lake up by Farmerville. Lake Darbonne. Many other places, those are just a few.

Being from Louisiana, you learn at an early age to butcher your harvest. To make sauage I use bacon! Yep good ol' bacon. I use 'Cajun Spice' or 'Tony's'. When I don't use bacon, I buy pork, or go to the local butcher and get 'free' beef trim fat. The very best I can say is smoked sausage is a lot better than plane.

Unless you plan to go out a distance from shore, most of the baits and rod/reel combo's will work for most of the salt water, living in the brackish water. Peacock flounder is one of those most 'sort after' fish. Find the fish you want to catch, and look up where most are caught. Good luck.

The one thing I always trained my dogs to do is listen, and watch hand signals. When they bark, say NO, then put your hand over there mouth. If you want them to sit, say SIT, then point to the floor. etc Never had to use a bottle or collar, but remember a dog will try to train you. Be consistent and give them praise when they do something right.

There is beauty all around in nature. Some don't get out of the city to enjoy what sportsman see and hear, each time we go out. And because we enjoy, and others don't, they try to stop us from having our day of peace. ENJOY

If and when the water rises here in the basin. Beau Bayou or Gavenburg is the place to be. Henderson is very good at times, now is not the time due to low level and the draw down, to kill the grass. Welcome to the stage, and good luck on TB.
