My worst fear is that when I die,my wife will sell all my tackle and gear for what I told her it cost! But seriously,if sold at retail, she could buy a brand new four wheel drive pickup with all the bells and whistles, and fill the tank with premium gas.
The absolute best lure i've found for white bass in NW Wis-#5shad colored Shadrap.

Here in NW Wisconsin, brookies and specks are the same thing. What are the differences in the Golden State?

Hey Ricky I can make what ever. The jigging rods I make cost me $113 I sell em for $150 that 37 dollars for 4 hrs if work. The guides I use are the best I've found in light weight. A finished jiggin rod weight between 2.9 and 3.2 oz
Thanks,Egg. I'm gonna try one of my bait casters on my first trip north. If it works for me,I'll be in touch.

Hey Ricky, your in the right spot. I'm a jiggin nut. Lake trout ,Walleye,Salmon, rainbows, Burbot,Perch,if it swims I jig for it. I make my own rods, for walleye I use a 4'3" to4'6" med heavy bait cast rod. Ive tried alot of reels.my favorite is the Abu Garcia Revo Winch. They have a 22 lb drag. I use em on the lake trout in my profile pic. And the same one on walleye n salmon, or what ever. Rod and reel weigh 9.8 oz spooled with 30 lb power pro. Why so short? You can feel the fish swim by you lure.big Lakers don't hit as hard as a perch most if the time. And finicky walleye don't hit hard either.but you won't miss em.

Great info,Egg. I've not seen too many 4'3"-4'6" mh bait cast rods on the racks lately! If I could convince you to build me one, what would it set me back?
Hiya folks! I love this site. It's become the first thing I go to when I log on. My question concerns walleye jigging rods for maximum 3/8 oz jigs. Almost always vertical jigging in depths of 12-24 feet. Not brands,so much as length and action in spinning and bait cast rods. I have used spin rods and reels exclusively for forty years when I go to Canada, but am going to try bait cast rods and reels this summer. Thanks for any and all input!
I guess the only good advice I can give, and this applies to fishing for any species,is "Keep your rod tip high and don't horse 'em!''
I fish Canadian waters jigging for walleye. I have been bitten off by norbies innumerable times. Walleye's teeth are shaped like cones, with no sharp edges. The northern's front teeth are blade-like,with razor-like edges. The teeth back by the corner of the mouth are not nearly as sharp,so decent hook-ups can occur. I actually caught my PB slimer after a protracted fight with a Little Cleo tied directly to 15lb mono.
I snagged one and hoisted it from the depths of a Canadian shield lake a few years ago. It was kinda roached, but I brought it home, disassembled it,thoroughly cleaned and lubed it. looks a little tough, but works like a champ. Now, every trip to Canada,it is part of my gear assemblage. great old reel!
I don't believe trim & tilt were even offered by Suzuki for the 40hp until '92.
White bass are probably the best table fare there is! I'll take white bass over walleye or sauger any day!
Wind from the south, blows the hook in their mouth
Wind from the north, fisherman don't go forth!
