Great, thanks for the reply. I am driving down on Tue 10/22 staying in one of the condos near Gateway marina. Will be there through Wed 10/30. I plan to fish the Suwannee reef area, the tital creeks off the mouth of the east pass and the Salt Creek area. I usually have good results trolling jigs from the mouth of Salt Creek up for a couple of miles. Let's keep in touch. larrylesueur1@gmail.com

Could not open the picture. Wanted to know if you caught them in salt creek area or other tidal creek in the area? I am going to Suwannee next Wed for a week of fishing the flats out near the Suwannee Reef and in Salt Creek if the fish have moved in there yet.

Load kayak, drive 10 hours south, problem solved. You can store kayak at my place until your next trip down. I will even locate some good fishing spots with it for you before you come back. No charge.

Power bait in orange color will look and smell like hatchery pellets. Next I like Salmon eggs and corn on same hook. I usually wait a few days then go wading further downstream of the stocking point. The ones that don't get caught the first few days will continue up and down stream and learn to eat natural food, insects, helgemites, small minnows and worms. Artificial begin to be more productive on the hatchery trout after a few days in the wild also. Good luck and don't slip on the rocks.

Just remembered a very large crappie that I almost caught years ago. I was fishing below an old grist mill dam and hooked a big one. I reeled it up a very steep high bank almost to the top when the line broke. I can't truthfully say how it weighed however,-----the splash it made created a back wash wave that turned the water wheel backwards and ungrounded a bushel of corn. Now that had to be an Alabama state record.

Hello Charlieatal,
Welcome newcomer from a newcomer. Weiss lake where I live is known as the Crappie capital of the world. Some have been caught in the 4 to 4.5 lb size. Most are in the 1 to1.5 lb range. Lots of Largemouth, Hybrids, Catfish and Bream too. That said I would bet that the Delta grows lots of big Crappie & other fish too. Tight lines to you, Roughneck

A high pitched whine at high speed could be caused by a damaged water pump impeller or a failed bearing in the lower unit. My 1st action would be to replace the water pump and also drain the gear oil in the lower unit. Check the drained oil for metal particles or water. If none, then refill it with the recommended weight gear oil and retest it at high speed. If this dosen't correct the whine or if metal was found in oil then the lower unit needs to be rebuilt. Hope this helps. Please let me know the outcome. Roughneck

Simply rub hands, fingers, wrists with white Crisco sold in cans. Then wask with dish detergent and hot water. This works and is simple.

Yep you do. I fished Clear Lake when I was a teenager and caught lots of big bream.

Lived a little north of Atlantan, retired from the rat race and moved to our retirement home on Lake Weiss, Centre Alabama.

Have used this method for many years after cleaning fish and it works. Rub white Crisco (not the liquid) on your hands fingers and wrists and then wash off with hot water and dish detergent. Then do the sniff test and you will be supprised---no fisheye smell. Be brave and ask the wife to do the sniff test.
