Does anyone know how to prevent hands from smelling like fish when fishing?
Does anyone know how to prevent hands from smelling like fish when fishing? I was thinking wearing gloves might help?
Will wearing gloves help prevent hands from smelling like fish, for example my hands stink after cutting up squid for bait and I really want to prevent this. I could try wearing disposable gloves but would prefer to know if this actually works because I could buy a proper lasting pair of gloves instead of being wasteful. If so, what type of gloves would work best?
Thank you.

Please don't fish. Handle the smell or give up. (There is a working with grease cream that you can use to prevent things to stick on your hands but I don't know the name of the US version name).

I get what you're saying but you have no idea what I do, for example I could be a dentist with my hands in people's mouths all of the time and yet you're sitting there telling me that I shouldn't fish because I don't want the smell on my hands for a long period? I don't really think this comment is very helpful.

The cream I mentioned repels grease dirt and debris. And smell. I don't know the us name. I was trying to be jolly with the first phrase bit text interpretation skills are too much to ask

Yes you're probably a great wise fisher who doesn't want to hear someone complaining about something so minor hahah. I'm a young adult chick who loves the idea of fishing but needs to get over getting dirty. The squid (for bait) is what makes my hand smell for a few days not the fish I have caught I guess. I'll try find that cream! Thank you

Oh. Thanks. I'm not a big Fisher and things dont gross me out, but I cleaned fish several times with a cream like that and no smell. Try hardware shops.

Maybe just wear dish washing gloves to bait your hooks. They are thicker. Rinse them off in the water when you are done. Ignore rude comments as well. There are some know-it-alls on here. Good luck and happy fishing.

Never thought about it. I just handle the various meaty nasty things, wash my hands off in the water, wipe em dry and eat my snacks.
I clean up later.

I love this approach, just get the job done and then you can worry about getting clean later. My boyfriend spent the weekend fishing and his hands still smell like squid despite 3 days later washing them constantly haha. What gets your hands smelling back to normal afterwards, if anything? I'm okay with dealing with the smell being there for a few days if it has to be that way; but I'm also wanting to know if it doesn't have to be that way hahah.

Don't use or handle stinking rotten bait, use fresh bait. Also rinse your hands everytime you touch bait, don't wait, you don't want to get guts on your rod anyway

Windex solves this problem

Windex also helps. The ammonia kills the bacteria that causes the smell
