Most lakes in King CO prohibit gas motors. Large and small. I'm glad you enjoy a small peaceful lake. But there should not be rules like this for all lakes. Perhaps only lakes under a certain size?

No, It's a good battery and a light 12' aluminum boat. I think I've gone about 6 hours before a need to charge. And that electric motor is just for maneuvering. Concerning gas vs elec.; I think this should be the choice of the fisherman not the bureaucrat. Again, I would rather have a small gas motor to get across the lake. It is first of all faster. Can you bring your boat to 8 MPH with your elec motor? A small gas motor dose no harm to the environment. Unless you sink. But what's the difference if your boat sinks with a gallon of gas vs. a battery? It's all bad for the environment. Actually non of this should be said as it will give the official ideas to close all waters to all but oars. On the flip side, if anyone was to go out and just dump gas or throw their old batter in in the lake that person needs to be severally dealt with.

I've (out of frustration) been retrofitting an old sea kayak for just these situations. Originally coming from MN I was flabbergasted when I slowly realized after my boat purchase just how many lakes out here are closed to motor boats. Frankly, I don't want to use a electric motor to traverse a lake. Its OK for scooting around docks when fly-fishing for bass but an all day troll its beyond reasonable expectation. The battery just wont hold out. I am of the mind to be careful of my wake and its just a little boat so 8 MPH is not hard to work with. As far as I understand its all about the environment. We all should go to electric cars to save the planet until one day Saint Helens rips a bad one and were all back in the dark ages. I think its overkill and the fisherman get to pay so the bureaucrats can feel good. I'm not a young guy; rowing in a row boat is a bit much exertion. I think who ever made that law is the North end of a Southbound horse.

Watch out for non gas motor lakes. In many of those lakes, if your motor is just hanging on the transom you may very well land a ticket. They don't seem to care if it's in the water. Just as long as its on the boat.

Don,
Cranberry lake is one of the nicest lakes up near Whidbey Island. It it still fly fishing only? What type of flies were you using? There is another lake called Silver lake not far from Cranberry where I used to go fishing at although it was then only spiny ray. When I was last there, there were no houses anywhere around the lake. You could just do dispersed camping on it's banks and with my little canoe it became a great spot for a two day vacation for me. It is a picture in my mind of a diminishing past. Have you ever gone there?

I don't mean to be without patience but "a year or two" seems like a little longer than what I was proposing. I was thinking this summer. But thanks for the tip just the same.

I am relatively new to the Green / Dawamish River. So a few Questions; Isn't the salmon just in the fall? And is there and boat ramps farther up towards Tukwilla? Are the trout edible out by Flaming Gorge?

I normally just put lead into the fly when I tie it. And I have a second reel with sinking line on it. But all this does not work in such a way as counting down when a lure with a spin casting reel is used. So I never really know just how deep the streamer winds up. What is you technique?

To get together with some folks who enjoy fishing, camping and boating. Do research together to find lakes as a group, exploring that data and then plan and execute fun camping trips as a group of two or more into the wilderness. I'm looking for a situation where I can find some friends who can rely on one another in case of situations that could arise, talk, tell dumb jokes and fishing knowledge. Frankly, I'm looking not for some party in the mountains, just folks who like me love the real outdoors fishing and camping but think that two are better than one but the city is a bit crowded.
What are you thinking?

Harleypiker,
I do understand that the theory is that the fish sense pressure through their bladders. That way they don't figure it but react to it. By the way McGee was somewhat correct but in using right division there is way more to be known here than most teachers are expounding on. OK, get back on the bus.

Golly Frank, When you shoot an arrow it's right for the bullseye, . That is why I put that post in there. To see if anyone else thought that it was a very minor detail. Or just totally BS! But then, you went straight for the jugular vein and included advertising. I couldn't agree more. I actually stopped paying attention to the site I mentioned towards the end of last season. It just wasn't paying out the way I was expecting.
So today, I will keep my eye on the barometric pressure as when it falls, as it still will be a good excuse to tell the little lady, "honey, the barometric pressure is falling, the fish will be biting, that is why I got to go fishing today!"
: )
Good day

I am interested in gathering together a small group of adventuresome folks out of the Seattle / King County area who would be interested in investigating and exploring lakes with small boat or kayak access in the Cascades to the North or South of I90.
The goal of this group would be an adventure including pulling each our own boat up to one of the lakes found, motoring or paddling out onto a shore accessible only by boat or foot, setting up a base camp for fishing, camping, cooking, eating for a few days. I think that would be the hoot and would go out there by myself. But in the wilderness, and totally dispersed camping, it don't hurt to have others to watch your back just for safety's sake.
If your interested in the send me a personal message.

It was only a few years back when I started to head back to the lake to fish. I doing this I noticed there were websites on the net which gave predictions of just how aggressive the the fish would bite. I would like to start a thread on this subject. I usually go to this address; https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/seattle/98104/fishing-weather/351409 Which is for the South King County area. But in the last two years of basing what day of the week I was to go on I do not recall a great catch coupled with a great prediction.
So, I would ask you theses questions;
* Have you used such a site and did it hold value?
* Did you actually have more activity on a day stating fishing would be good?
* Do you have a barometer and use it in your fishing plans?
* Do you have any tips where this might be helpful to better the chance of a limit?
* Do you know of a better website?

Reminds me of an old ad I saw back in my Navy days. It read " Wanted, woman with boat. Please send a picture of the boat!" Just bear in mind that the right one will offer to clean the fish as well as fry them up!
