When I was in Taiwan eons ago, a friend and I were hiking along a narrow trail through the mountains, when I noticed a small green snake coming toward me on the trail. Thinking it was a common variety that I'd seen a hundred times before, I stepped aside and let it go by. My friend stood with one foot on each side of the trail and let it go between his legs. We then continued on until we heard screaming behind us. We turned to see a Chinese guy beating the snake to death. Piecing together a limited knowledge of the Chinese language and some subsequent research, we learned that it was a Chinese Green Tree Viper, which is extremely venomous.
Much bourbon was consumed that night.

A bit of a drive for you, but not bad, is Murdock Lake in Berwick. It is known locally as Hatfields Pond. Lots of bass, bluegill, some pickerel. Bass are small; 16 inches is a good one Gills can be really good sized. we were there yesterday, 4-14, with no bites, but wew weren't really fishing. It was a reward to the grandsons for helping(?) me split wood.

I second that. I've never fished from shore there, but have always had luck in my canoe. Many of the bass I caught would have been reachable from shore.

Maine as well. No venomous snakes here.

Welcome to the forum. Try the causeway on Frye's Bridge Road in Lyman, between Roberts and Wadleigh Pond. Lots of good sized bass in those ponds.

If your dog was barking on the front door and your wife knocking on the back door, who should you let in first?
โ€“ The dog, because at least it would shut up once it got in.

I donโ€™t even know what this bowl is for, other than to tease my imagination ๐Ÿ˜Š. Do any of you know what it might have been used for?

I think it may be for watering cattle.

Anyone else here a fan of the TV show Svengoolie? My wife and I have a date night every Saturday night. We watch Sven and have cheese and summer sausage.

Thank you for the reminder! I lost track of Sven when I cut the cord a few months back. Your post prompted me to find him again. I'm going out to buy some cheese and sausage as soon as it stops snowing.

I once heard that the guy who invented the reel was left handed. Don't know if it was true, but it would explain a lot.
