Great pic! Except for the Bud Light
Ok. That's it. I'm officially jonesin for crab
It has its moments, but not like it used to be. Mostly fish for catfish on the Rap out of Hopyard, or the Potomac out of Colonial Beach. Used to have 16" croaker here, and in dry years taylor bluefish. Still some stripers around but not a lot of keepers. Occasionally I have seen Spanish up in the Potomac near Stratford Hall late in the summer in dry years.
Tight lines and following seas!
The fish in the bucket are croakers. Those flatties are small, but fun.
I heard a rumor that there were blues on the east side of the bay. No choppers, but some decent Taylor's.
Lake Anna is a good bet. The Rap has bass tournaments sometimes so there must be a few in there...Hopyard as a launch point. Plenty of cover on both sides, lilly pads in some of the shallow creeks feeding into the river. Note that there are plenty of snakeheads (great eating) and they will hit bass lures.
Penns and Mitchell's (made in France) are great reels, easy to work on and do maintenance, and will last and last.
Thanks!
I assume in the grass beds? I actually would like some live ones for bait
Nice! A good day of fishing is better that....well, just about anything!
I don't fish for bucket mouths...only eaters. But every once in a while I hook one and it's a thrill!
Tell me about catching the shrimp in Virginia. How did you do it?
Usually fairly good. Fish the tide, cut bait, shrimp, squid, curly tails or spoons.
I think it's those gill netters sweeping everything decent out before they even get to the rivers
