On the river, not in the reservoir. Sorry, should have been clearer.
The largemouth I caught were fair to middlin'. I was actually down on the river more toward the Columbia - in Blaylock Canyon, really. Never been to the reservoir, but I've heard good things.
I've caught so many fish on the John Day in the Crane Prairie area that I became exhausted from hauling them all in (channel cats, too). In July and August...
Ah, yes, I grew up in Camas, so the Washougal is my natural environment. I mostly hit the swimming hole near the Christmas tree place. I catch a lot of trout there in the summer.
Yes, razor clamming would be fantastic! The last time we went, there were too many people - tried up near Mocrocks. We ended up getting pushed into the reservation and then the forest before picking our way home. It was a nice drive, but took way, way too long. :-)
Ah, cool! In Oregon or farther south/east? One of my favorite places to go is the Bend area.
I live in Vancouver, Washington about 10 miles south of Portland, Oregon, just across the Columbia River.
My preferred fishing is Tenkara - I have 10', 12', and 13.5' poles. I also fish for salmon and steelhead on our many rivers in WA and OR. The Pacific Coast is about 1.5 hours away, so I do some surf fishing and crabbing over there from time to time. I keep WA and OR licenses and tags, so have the flexibility to go where I hear the creatures are.
Also do some clamming and crawdad picking, stuff like that. Mostly, though, it's nice trout and some bass using the Tenkara rods.
Thanks for a great forum - I really enjoy reading about fishing in all parts of our great country.
