Happens to just about anything at this point in time. Distribution costs are highly variable.

I can get a turkey at a local supermarket for .99 / lb. I am pretty sure it will be pretty flavorless and perhaps a little tough around the edges but with some care in prep it might be edible. Personally I have one turkey a year. I am buying it from a local farm in the next town over and it will cost some bucks but it will be good and worth the the effort of cooking it.

Personally I consider tilapia to be on the order of trash fish. Tough, not flavorful and often farm raised in questionable conditions. Unless you are fishing in Ecuador where they occur naturally I wouldn’t bother

I won’t wade above 500 cfs. One for me it’s unsafe. Two those trout are going to be hard to find. They don’t like that current either.

I prefer knots for the many reasons others have mentioned. Braid is great on your reel but sucks at end of the line. I generally tie a four or five foot leader of either flouro or mono ( read sink / float) on the end of my braid. A carefully tied uni kit does the trick. Slips through guides smoothly with little effect on the casting distance

This is an excellent site on fishing the Cape, https://myfishingcapecod.com . I believe Yarmouth has a good size fishing pier. You aren't far from the famous Cape Cod canal. It is best for night time striper fishing. It is also a highly competitive place . The fishing has gotten kind of tough on the Cape due to the seal population eating a lot of fish. Local bait and tackle shops are a wealth of info. I find the ones I have been to on the Cape give top notch advice. I don't spend much time on the upper Cape but from my reading, Riverview Bait and Tackle in in Yarmouth is popular and so is Red Top in Buzzards Bay. Most of my fishing on the Cape is on the lower (Outer Cape) aka Provincetown/Truro area. Sorry I can't be more specific. But Myfisingcapecod is really excellent.

With all the rain in New England, river fishing is really tough. Too much current to wade and tough to find holes where the fish take respite. I couldn’t get near my favorite ponds due to flooded access roads . Today I finally did . After 3 weeks of being g skunked , I was rewarded. Keep the faith . One chain pickerel ( that was unexpected on an ultra light with 4 lb test) , three small crappie and a bunch of way small blue gill. Nothing worth keeping but a least some action and most of it on small tackle so it was fun . especially that pickerel.

I guess if you are only bass fishing then this might be a good candidate. But here in the northeast, if you only can have one rod, a 6 to 7 foot moderate fast action spinning rod with a 2500 series reel will serve you well . Trout, panfish, bass can all be caught on this. It is not ideal for everything but it is versatile.

I’m fortunate to have a lot of good privately owned tackle stores around me. Several of which will build you custom rods of tremendous quality. I also have a bass pro shops within 45 minutes as well as Tackle Direct who sell all your high end rods and reels. The original question was asked because they didn’t know if Walmart stuff was any good . I think if you have to ask that question then your experience level isn’t very high. So I’m guessing they don’t need a G. Loomis to fish for catfish with a hot dog. Not that there’s anything wrong with that just saying it depends more on what your trying to do and how often are you doing it. And they may not be as fortunate as I am to be in an area with so many tackle stores.

Jealous that you have so many local tackle shops . It great. I support my local hardware stores to keep them alive
Supporting the locals is great

Depends on your Walmart. The best rod in my Walmart is a an Ugly Stick which is good for what it is . Anything else in the store is less than that . Good luck finding anything more than a 25 dollar plastic reel. Even my local Dicks carries pretty low end gear. I need to go to my Cabela’s or local tackle shop (but regretfully they are getting rare )

What are fishing for? I use 15 lb braid on most of bait casters for fresh water with10 lb leader for bass. I use mono for the leader on plastics and flouro on the swims and cranks . But most of my fishing is for trout and that is all spinning

I went fishing for the first time in years last month and got sunburned so bad I'm still peeling.I did the same float trip I've done dozens of times before my back surgery.I've never had this problem before but don't want it to happen again.Maybe it's aging and maybe it's because I didn't get out much after the 2nd time I fractured my back.

Can fish detect sunscreen residue on your tackle? What brands are recommended?

Whether they can or can't with my family's history of skin cancer sun block wins the day. I generally wear long sleeve shirts and pants when fishing, no matter what the weather. As far as bug repellent, i use that at as well No fish is worth skin cancer, lyme disease or Alpha-gal syndrome (you develop a life time allergy to any meat from an animal with a hoof).

What really sucks for me is when I am bank fishing on a wide river. I start to fan cast on a river, and the second cast snags some other idiots snag line that even they didn’t bother to to try to retrieve . So after spending 20 minutes getting my line and his out of the water and me getting a little wet in the process i rescue a few yards of fishing line instead of working on catching fish,
