Man this has been a rough year for me.
Aside from destination trips , my year has pretty much sucked.
This time last year saw some of the best deep vertical jig crappie , with steady limits of 10-12 inchers with the occasional big uns
White bass were off the hook! Caught hundreds
Saugeye were hit and miss but caught some studs

This year , I can’t seem to put anything consistent together
Can’t find good crappie , haven’t even seriously looked for bass. All my honey holes are dry or have a few dinks

Musky season was non existent because of work and weather

Been skunked a couple times and have to work my tail off for the few I’m catching.

Anyone else experiencing a sucky year?

I’m racking my brain.
I’d expect massive schools of fish in some of my spots 18-26 ft deep now.
Those are baren
We marked fish today in 12 ft of water. In 80.5 degree water. Don’t have a clue why
Thermocline is already formed at 29 ft which is 5 ft higher than last year.

I’m clueless

You can add this year to last from my perspective. 2019 was my last good year for catching fish. I caught some stripers when I went out with Saw in the spring, but other than that - pretty much nada. It's been hot and it's been dry and it's been windy as hell. Hoping for a better fall. Man do we need rain and especially SNOW in the Sierras. Has anyone seen a weather report for or does anyone live in Humboldt County? That's one of the rainiest places in the world, they regularly get over 100 inches. Anyone know how they're doing?

Ben... at least you have somewhere to fish! I'm trying to figure out how to Summerize my boat. I won't be using it again until temps drop enough so that I can fish all day. I remember Ivey telling me that I should fish at night. Maybe he's right.

Yup Ben mine sucks too. Been flathead fishing multiple times and have yet to land one. Did have a big one on but it broke off when it got tangled up in a brush pile. Last year I caught a 30 and 26 pounder.

Yep, with you there. Been real sucky out here too. Doing a lot of casting practice, and trying new things....to no avail.

I have only had a few small “windows” to fish, marked a bunch but couldn’t figure them out. Water is warmer than I can remember since I have paid attention to it. I should have more opportunities in August if things go as planned. Future DIL wants to catch some fish, so I’d better figure it out 😱

Salmon fishing is good in Puget Sound, but quota already reached in my area, so salmon fishing is closed entirely in and north of the San Juan's (no fish, no season) (good fishing no season because of the low quota) I still think I need to move from Washington to the great lakes if I want to catch Pacific Salmon. If there is any wind, a common assurance during July, us small boat owners just don't get to fish salmon. Be happy you even get to fish for the fish of your choice. Given your dry conditions, it is time to think outside the box. Fish need to eat regardless of the drought, so they have likely found new homes. Time to go find them.

As I said in my earlier post "think outside the box" No they are not really fish, but my stomach won't complain. Besides, how could my grandson have more fun. Chasing critters, swimming, digging in mud, and laughing until it hurts. That boy refused to quit. Even if it drowned him. The gapper (horse neck) in his left hand. Gappers, butter clams, native little necks, manila clams and cockles. Always check the public heath clam consumption reports for paracletic shellfish, pollution and gastro reports. I do it when I go out and when I get home.
