Might happen on a weekend in the summer. I've never experienced a line. Then again I only fish weekdays 98% of the time. Exceptions are tournaments. Last Saturday 13 boats on Pyramid.
I fish mainly Pyramid and Castaic. Both lakes are down dramatically for repairs on the dams. This winter is the toughest I've experienced since moving here in 1970. I'm on the lake twice a week every week. Didn't know what a skunk was till this year. Managed a 3lb today @ Pyramid on morning dawn drop shot.
Hi, I'm a SO CAL bass guy. Fish the local tournaments on various lakes. I'm on the water at least twice a week, 52 weeks a year. That said, I switched all my gear to Kastking about a year and half ago. Casting and Spinning rods are Perigee II from 6' to 7'6". Reels consist of the Royal Legend Elite in the bait caster and the Speed Demon for spinning. I bought one to test and was sold. The two biggest selling points are weight and castability. Have yet to have any kind of problem. There's 20 of these on my Nitro. Today's best buy.
Gonna be tricky. Water level down 30ft.
I can't imagine using a spinning reel today spooled with anything but braid and flouro leader. The perfect combo is 10lb. braid with a 6lb leader. You'll eliminate your problems and you.ll cast a lot farther and you'll catch more fish. I'll be using this set up on Sunday in a bass tournament.
I'll be fishing a bass tournament this Sunday. Temp. will be in the 40's. When driving the boat I'll be wearing gloves. When casting I won't. My pockets have GRABBER hand warmers in them. My hands get cold then I warm them, been using hand warmers for years.
I'm in the San Fernando Valley. Mainly fish Castaic, Pyramid, Piru, Diamond Valley. When I can, Lake St.Clair, MI. , best smallmouth fishery in the world, that's not an exaggeration.
I don't believe there is a brand I haven't used over the years. I'm on the water in CA 52 weeks a year. Fish the local tournaments. Todays winner is Kastking Royal Legend. I have a half dozen on the boat. Best ever for the money.
Hi. Very interesting reading. Kastking is quality at a reasonable price. I'm a CA bass tournament guy. My equipment has evolved to all Kastking, we're talking about 30 rods and reels. What got me started was the weight issue. These set ups allow you to feel the tiniest of a nibble. Then came the castability, outstanding. Now that's for the Assassin, Royal Legend, Speed Demon with Perigree II rods in a variety of sizes. Speed Demon is perfect for a jerk bait, best I've used. I choose equipment and techniques to win tournaments.Ask Brent Chapman on the Bass Pro Tour why he's all Kastking? Start with the Royal Legend and a Perigree II rod and you won't look back. I.m on the water twice a week 52 weeks a year. Kastking works.
Hi. Get a copy of the Western Outdoor News. Weekly updates on all CA lakes
Hi. I'm a SoCal bass fisherman. On the water twice a week 52 weeks a year. Fish a variety of lakes. DVL being one of them. I do catch fish 52 weeks a year. The fish are there and catchable. My approach would be in 20' to 40' of water with a 3" swimbait , 6" Texas rigged worm, wacky senko weighted, drop shot 3"&4" baits, 20' DD crank. This is a slower time, but you'll catch 'em. Also read the Western Outdoor News, weekly updates on all the lakes. Don't forget the Stripers.
Hi, I do the tournament Circuits out her in So Cal. Originally from Mich. You need to get thru the weeds first. Use a 3/4 or 1/20z pegged weight, Texas rigged. Now you got thru the weeds. I would stick with 3" or 4" baits and the choices are endless. Things like Strike King Rage Tail, one of my favorite is Missle Baby "D" Bomb, even a grub. I'm sure your shops have a variety of baits, but the key is presentation, which is the pegged weight. Normally I love the weeds, that's where the bass are hanging.
I grew up on the lake. St.Clair that is. Live in CA now. Fish bass tournaments here. If your a competitive fisherman or just a recreational guy or gal, today there is no body of water in North America that can come close to the catch on St.Clair. When you just look at the lake, you'll think your in the Bahamas. Bass, walleye, musky, perch, the list goes on. Make a trip back every summer for those 50 fish days everyday.
I answered this same question about a week ago. I am a CA tournament fisherman. I'm on the water 2 to 3 times a week 52 weeks a year. My Shimanos, Carbonlites, Abus, and Diawas have all been replaced by Kastking reels and rods. If I have hopes of winning a tournament, why would I do this? Simply because of performance and value. There are 30 of these combos on the boat. Ask Brent Chapman, of the Bass Pro Tour, why he chose Kastking. The new 9:3:1 reel is fantastic
