Exactly, never heard of them bothering anybody unless they keep them.
Lol, ok then they were tautog
A few days ago we were talking about black fishing. I mentioned I would be going out on Monday. It was an awesome day, got the limit quick and continued catch and release for fun.
Fairfield, googling wrecks in the Western Sound right now
Nice! I’m going out blackfishing on Monday. They have the weirdest lips and teeth. Got to get some crabs and head out to find some structure in the Sound
When you first log on, at the top of the page there is a link to fishing digest. When you click on it there is a heading (what you need to catch fish) with a list of topics. How do you find those topics. I copied and pasted some of the topics I am looking for into search, and there were some topics that came up, but not the one I pasted there.
Here is one of the topics I was searching for, but there are others I would like to find.
How to free up a lure that's stuck at the bottom. (This technique works more than 95% of the time. Never lose a lure again.)

Is it a one piece rod or two? I have a Triumph that did about the same thing as you did to - they sent me a new tip end piece for $40.00. They asked me for the serial number of rod. How long ago did you buy it? Their higher end rods have lifetime warranties.
Well now it’s a two piece rod.
Wow!! That’s crazy, I think I would have at least passed it to somebody else on the boat before cutting it. Not to mention, I hate to see a fish swimming around with a hook and a length of line hanging out of its mouth. That’s partly what bugs me about the one that got away from me.
The braid was broken on the main line, not the leader. My kayak was actually tipping when it dived. The kayak is a heavy sot from Bass Pro Shops that is very wide and stable. There was a thunderstorm in the distance moving toward me so I didn’t loosen the drag. Was just trying to get it in as quick as possible so I’m sure that could have had something to do with it. I’d say the battle was maybe 10 minutes. I guess it could have been a dogfish, but I’ll never know.
I was on my kayak yesterday in the Long Island Sound trying to snag bunker for bait. Casted into a huge bunker pod, but ended up snagging something else...Striper or bluefish I’m guessing. I got it close to the kayak and it dived straight down. Whatever it was, it was big and strong enough to break off 50lb braid.
We snag bunker (menhaden) for bait in the Long Island Sound. They sell weighted treble snagging hooks in my area specially for that purpose. You can’t eat bunker, but they make great bait for stripers or bluefish. Live line or bunker chunks is the way to go around here in the summer - late fall.
Oh no! Over the line was canceled too??? How will San Diegans survive. I lived in San Diego for most of the 80’s and had a great time at OTL. I always thought of it as a drinking event more than a sporting event, but then I was in my 20’s at the time.
Glad you’re safe. I’d be more concerned about water temp than depth, but since you’re ok, it doesn’t really matter. Glad you had the pdf on. I never paddle without one, but I do see some people heading out not wearing one.
If I looked like that I’d be 2600 ft deep too
