Is that a real fish? Seriously? Is it real? I've never seen anything like that before. If it's real, where was it caught , what did you catch it on and how deep was it?

I googled it and it’s a ratfish. That particular one was caught off Norway in 2600 feet of water. I’m guessing the difference in pressure is what caused the eye to bulge. The angler said it didn’t survive so they took it home and ate it. Said it was good. A bit like cod but tastier.

That would be a good reason I've never seen one. Norway at 2600 ft. What the hell were they fishin for? Ratfish?

Definitely not like any halibut we have out here. Not even one caught once in a "Blue Moon".

He had a 4 hook setup and had 2 halibut on also when he reeled it in. Said he nearly jumped out of the boat when he saw it.

2600 feet? What reel holds that much line? I get tired after many 50' reel ins.
