Hello,
Today I fell out of a kayak, when a rod and reel tumbled overboard and I made a grab for it, resulting in me in the water, and the well designed Malibu righting itself. Due to myinjured shoulder, I knew I could not get back in the kayak, although I knew how to do it.
The Nightcat PFD worked perfectly and with my strong shoulder I held on to the kayak and dogpaddled to shore. It took a while to realize I was getting nowhere. DUH. The anchor was still down, so I got to pull it up with my feet, and finally got it into the kayak. I was not making much progress, so called for help. A boat showed up, and I moved to the strong handle I had installed on the rear of the rear of the kayak and was towed ashore.
So, I am now short: one rod and reel, one landing net, one set of glasses and my IPhone doesn't work. I also have an inflated Nightcat PDF and will remove the inflation, but somebody out here must know about a new co2 cylinder for placement because I am pretty sure the Chinese film that makes them would be the "high cost, complicated" answer.
Thanks for your attention in this matter.

Dealer you purchased from should have more. The manual that came with it should tell you. I would figure they are just CO2 for bb guns etc. The valve that inflates it is what is special. Type in model in google .
I just googled Replacement Cartridge for self inflating PFD. There is many items available. It seems you would want extras with you on your boat or at least in your vehicle ( truck etc) 15-30 plus dollars for the valve and CO2.

Dang, glad you're OK. How deep was the water where you were? I prefer the type of vest that you pull the handle to inflate not the auto inflate ones.
I only have the ones that are just on you. No auto ..no pull my finger....no pull the handle. just make sure you have it ON. I don't use a kayak.

Glad you're Ok, gene so; but, I've got no helpful advice, other than what's already been said = I would "Google it".

Dang Gene sure don't like to hear stories like that. Good though you are home and dry and can tell us about it. Lesson learned i bet.
In regards to the cylinder, West Marine carries them.
Glad to hear your ok as far as the replacement cylinder it’s either 24 gram or 36 gram you don’t wanna over inflate it with one too big or under inflate it either so your going to have to do your investigation on it
Thanks everyone,
I was in 29 feet of water, so was not concerned about the fishing line on my legs, since I knew the hook was way below me. Power boats are illegal on this lake, but I was happy when they showed up and rescued me.

Co2 cartridges are used for many applications. Bike tire filling, air guns. Etc. There are two diff ways of installing and different capacities. You should be able to unscrew the cartridge, measure the length and ebay it (co2 cartridge).
Commonly sold by bicycle shops.
Glad you’re safe. I’d be more concerned about water temp than depth, but since you’re ok, it doesn’t really matter. Glad you had the pdf on. I never paddle without one, but I do see some people heading out not wearing one.
Here in NC you have to have it on for each person in the vessel or get fine
I had a similar incident when the auto inflate vests first came out. I rolled my canoe while picking up decoys. The vest inflated exactly as designed. When I got my wits about me, I stood up and walked to shore pulling the canoe with me.

Brings back memory from years ago. Colorado, stream running quickly, friend says "want to try this?" sure says I.. Shortly after boarding the kayak we tipped and rolled. Lost the paddle. Dog barking wildly from shore. Being dragged down the stream. Very cold, too. Finally ashore. None the worse for wear, very wet and cold. Keokeo

I wanted to know the depth cause I would have wanted to try to retrieve my fishin rod. However, 29 feet is a little deep . Did manage to retrieve my partners rod few years back when he accidently kicked it off the boat deck in 30 feet of water. Only because it had a crankbait tied on it. Came back the next day with a contraption I made with a wire cage and dragged the bottom and finally hooked the crankbait and got his rod back.
One of his rigs are worth bout all mine put together.
