Yeah, I agree Fred, that would have been very helpful and I have one of those.. unfortunately I left it in my Saltwater Bag, may need to head over to Bass Pro @ Concord Mills Mall and pick up another one.

Sunday 11/26/2023 Lake Norman North Carolina * Seagulls and Loons all over the point at Channel D9, Dan and I haven’t seen that many birds in one place in quite awhile * KABOOM, KABOOM both rods doubled over and we could tell these weren’t little fish… 2 nice Hybrids. The very next pass KABOOM another nice one… while I was lipping the fish out of the water, the fish decided to put up a fight, treble hook in my thumb… ouch, ouch, ouch. Dan grab this fish, fish goes nuts again… now the fish, Dan and me all have treble hooks in the fish and our hands… Fish was 1st off, real nice fish, but slid off back deck into water without a picture… 5 minutes of needle nose pliers and bleeding all over the boat… we were all free of treble hooks. Next pass, kaboom (lower case) Dan landed a monster flathead catfish.

Is that a large mouth or a spot ? My eyes ain’t so good anymore . It’s a nice fish though !

Good eyes Chuck, you are correct, it’s a spotted bass, me and Dan have caught 100’s of them. Although every once in awhile you catch one that I can’t even decide which one it is…

Sunny beautiful day on LKN North Carolina * We we’re marking fish from 8’ to 40’ deep, last weeks cold front has got them scattered * Here’s one of the nicer fish we landed on a Deep Diving Crank Bait off channel marker 12 in 40’ water off that point * We landed some decent fish and lost a couple nice ones too… oh well, that’s fishing…

Yeah, I completely agree. Lake Norman is way over fished and is not the lake it was 20 years ago… decent fish are few and far between, for me it’s more of a mess around, have a few cold ones and hang out with my buddy Dan. I have pretty much given up Bass fishing, the Carolina Coasts are where the true battles happen… like this Cobia from July I landed on the Comanche Reef in July this summer, that’s fishing.

Well me and Dan decided to do a little Sunday morning fishing before football games came on the TV * it stated over a little chilly… since Dan’s a Lions Fan… really we stopped fishing about 12:30 pm and we stopped for that… lions and panthers need some help. Well the fish have moved into shallow water and Channel Marker 8A around that point to the white Shoals marker to the north held a ton of spotted bass… it was 45 minutes of crazy… all sizes, tail walking, jumping… crazy…. we lost a couple real nice ones but landed a lot of fish. There was a jerk in a green ranger that pulled up right were we were obviously heading to and if you are the idiot in that ranger bass boat reading this… me and Dan will have a big surprise for you next time… good thing it was too early for cold brews but we will be sure and give you a good old fashioned Missouri boat ride next time…

Partly cloudy Fall day on beautiful Lake Norman North Carolina * Late afternoon fish with my good buddy Dan who loves to troll, pop a cold one, eat chips and Quick Trip has a sale thru November, 2 bags of Jack Link jerky for $11, that’s inflation buster pricing! Oh yeah the fish… not much luck with spots and hybrids, but we did find several schools of slab crappies. Stay tuned, October and November are prime months to get on the lake. Tight lines!

It MAY be the Lions year?

My buddy Rick has season tickets to the panthers and went to the Jets practice game last night... panthers offensive wasn't that impressive, but the defense was all over Aaron Rodgers...

So, we are not doing anything this afternoon, the rain is over the sun is trying to come out, let’s meet Dan and take the SeaRay out and pop a few cold ones and cool off in beautiful Lake Norman. My wife, son, Dan all say yeah that sounds good… climbing in the car, oh for the heck of it… take a couple rods and do a little trolling on on way to the big cove with the cool water… yeah, why not. KABOOM!… 5 minutes later, both rods went down… double hook up and this time we actually had someone on board to take a picture. Yeah, Dans wearing that stupid Detroit Lions Hat… we are going to the preseason Lion vs Panthers game at BOA Stadium in a couple weeks!

What a great day you had Duck! It makes me want to get out there real soon. Catching Vermillion is fun too, but we had to reel them in really fast before the Amberjacks or sharks got them. Thanks for the pics. The conditions were perfect for an offshore trip.

Yes, I feel your pain... I brought in a hook with just a head on it a couple times, damn reef donkeys!

Awesome Cobia Duck! You should have called Gordon to join you. Thanks for the pictures.

Yeah, that will happen someday, my buddy Otto snd I planned to head to Lake Murray, the Striper bites is on… but 1 KT winds and 1 ft waves changed our plans (look at the water in the background in the fish pix… that’s 22 miles offshore) at the last minute… we got some drum, vermillion snapper too!

Amazing conditions lured us to Charleston SC Wednesday Ideal conditions 1KT winds with 1 ft waves every 11 seconds. Smooth easy ride out to the Comanche Reef * I landed my first decent Cobia of the year, 38” FL, and that fish lived up to the Cobia’s reputation… I love battling Cobia and my Penn Warfare lived up to it’s reputation as well! Tight Lines!
