The weather for today looks like 73ยฐ and sunny. Definitely a grass cutting day, and clean the garden off day.

What do bears do on the weekend?

Enjoy the day folks!

It is my friends birthday today He is 96. A ww2 vet. He has been my barber and my friend for about 10 years. I take him to the VA once or twice a month for his appts. I tell him thank you for his service often. When we go to lunch he is thanked by a lot of people for his service too. A few times they will buy our meal. He was proud to have served. My wife knitted him a nice warm lap blanket. He doesnโ€™t like cold weather. I wished him a happy birthday and 96 more years. Bobby
my father was a ww2 medic in the rainbow div.He would have been 113years.Happy birthday to your friend and thank you for your service to him๐ŸŽ‚

As a beekeeper and gardener I am very observant of plant growth. This year has been unusual, some say it was the rain.
Well, talking with several beekeepers and gardeners in the new England area we all have the same issues. Our tomatoes didn't grow, squash blossoms didn't produce fruit and bee forage we normally see didn't grow. we also experienced the growth of plants (weeds)we haven't seen before.
My theory: Canadian wildfires are predominantly evergreen forests. evergreen trees produce an allelopath that alters or prevents growth. The Canadian smoke that enveloped new England for weeks may have been carrying particulates of both the allelopath and the weed seeds. the rains would then precipitate them out. I did find a slight change in my soil Ph and pool Ph after 2-3 days of rain but not enough to effect growth. The only thing different this season was weeks of wildfire smoke.
I will be looking at what grows in early spring to see if the new weeds remain.
has anyone south of Ct or in the Ohio valley experiencing any of this?

Well, here in Georgia,it wad a strange season too,but I don't think the Canadian wildfires affected us.we did have a late sping deep freeze which delayed planting.I had good squash ,and green beans and southern peas were great.got tomatoes but had a lot of rot due to a lot of rain, and high heat.tomatoes like high heat, but not so much water. I usually enjoy second planting of yellow squash in fall, not so good so far.As I was trained as a master Gardner it is better to plant smaller plots of yellow squash every 3 weeks rather than everything at once.happy gardening ya'll and happy Fishing!

Now that I take a different one daily, I rarely have any Gout attacks, but when ever I do maybe in 3 or 4 years, I stop momentarily and I take Colchizine which fixes the gout and I go back to my Alimperinol. Colchizine is a bad MED so you have to be careful with it. Heck, I watched a program about a murder, I think Forensic files and that is what someone used to kill another person with an over dose of it. Sorry for the spelling error on the meds. To lazy to go to the cupboard to look at the bottles.

Yeah, you are right about colchizine,it feels like murder! No worries about spelling these meds,I think when they ge a new medicine ,they play scrabble to name it!

[quote=nutz4fish]Dave, you were a bad boy with that shrimp. I'm sure the Doc told ya about that kinda
stuff & also organ meats. If ya get lucky, like me, Allopurinal just might let ya slip up OCCASIONALLY. Allo takes a long time to kick in, so if ya use that, going forward, be patient & keep the Colchicine ready to go.
I've been able to cautiously reduce my Allo to 150 mg/daily. Been OK this way with only very infrequent attacks, but thats just me, ask the Doc.
Good Luck ![/quote thanks for the advice. Cold shrimp and cold beers go together but not with gout.still sore today but getting better

Hope for a good recovery. I take Tart Cherry juice for gout. I have Colchicine for stand by. As long as I use the Tart Cherry I don't have to use the drug. I drink 4-6 oz a day of the juice and it's very effective. Anytime that I can use natural remedies over drugs I go that direction. Best of luck for ya!

I eat cherries often.I revently ate some shrimp.might have done it

Dave, I understand your agony. Ask Doc if Colcichine is OK for you. Works great for me when I have an acute gout attack. One drawback is what they call gastrointestinal distress. But its no worse than a colonoscopy prep and works in about 8 hours (for me). Then, I'm ๐Ÿ˜ happy again.
