There are no Hardhead Catfish in South Carolina.
Russ, I live in MB and also am new to surf fishing. I started fishing piers also. Lots of little Whiting and such. Looks like fishing will be slow to March. Anybody got other suggestions?
I have been using cut Whiting and Blood Worm Fishbites. Small Whiting is all I've caught.
That's why I said Grand Strand. It is a 60 mile stretch of South Carolina coast line. Pretty specific area....tlk
Anything form the surf or piers?
Are they biting in December?

Merry Christmas. I'm with you. I have bass fished for 50 years. Just started saltwater fishing when I moved to Myrtle Beach last year.
Don’t buy your rigs. Learn to tie your own. Lots of info on how to do it and will save you a bunch of money. I use fishbites to catch bait and a cast net for finger mullet.
For the money I like the Penn Pursuit III 5000. Penn added the HT-100 drag system to the III model. Paired with a 10 foot Fiblink Surf Spinning Fishing Rod 2-Piece Graphite Travel Fishing Rod. Heavy duty but very light weight. Lots of good stuff out there have fun finding your favorite setup.
We got skunked yesterday at Apache. Is the season over?
Oh yeah, My buddy used frozen shrimp. Fed a lot of crabs.
Frozen Whiting and Bloodworm FishBites.
Well guys I think the season may be over. Spend hours up and down the pier. Fed the craps and the bird thieves. Birds were aggressive. Better trying to catch fish than watch TV.
I'm new to the area and new to saltwater fishing. Trying Apache Pier today.
