Might want to try a nightcrawler tied on a slow death hook about 4 feet from a 3oz bottom bouncer in 20-30' of water. Can use 3-4 beads and a smile blade if desired. Works on nearby lakes...
Lots of water around the area. What are you fishing for? Boat or shore? Willing to pay for dock fishing access? Bass, Perch, Crappie, Bluegill, and other panfish and trout can be found in Liberty Lake. Panfish in Newman Lake. Trout in Williams, Badger or Rock lake. Up North, Waitts Lake or Jump Off Joe. Lake Roosevelt has good shore access for Trout, Smallmouth, and Walleye (among other species). Check out WDFW site for places to fish and you'll find many choices. They also put out a "Weekender report" that is helpful. Good luck!
Might also check the WDFW "Weekender Report" for our region.
Reports I've seen have been very good, but expect crowded conditions. Good Luck!
Picked up a few in the main reservoir last week. Trolling very close to the weed beds in the Sand dunes area. Bottom bouncers and a night crawler on a slow death hook was the key. Troll slow (0.8-1.1 mph). Also caught a large Crappie, large Bluegill, and released a trout and small mouth bass. Good Luck!
I like the Shimano Nasci reels. Around $100, sealed bearings, and no issues with the ones I already own.
Yakima, Nachess, and Crab Creek might be worth exploring also.
I agree with Gmchief, northern Idaho has some excellent stream fishing. The Clearwater area has several streams that are fishable.
Worm suspended 3-4 feet below a bobber usually gets their attention...
Wow! That's amazing...thanks for sharing!
Haven't fished the river, I'm sure it's running high, fast, and off color. However, there's a sporting goods/fly shop in Winthrop (sorry, don't recall the name, but it's main downtown right off the board walk) that was quite helpful last year when I was up there last.
Fishing was tough on the North end, but all three of us caught some nice Lahonton cutthroats, using chironomids under a strike indicator fishing from our float tubes. Mostly in the 18-20 inch range. One over 20. All were released. As we were leaving we noticed pods of fish in about 1 foot of water, near the shore. Tried a few casts to them, but they had no interest in what we were throwing. Perhaps they were feeding on scuds? Weather was fair, light wind.
