Had the chance to go "Catching" with Larry (FishnRods) out of Shelter Island landing this morning. Left the dock around 7am and I managed the first fish about 10 min. later, a small spotted bay bass. Larry got the next one about 5 minutes later, and it was on for the rest of the morning. Caught a wide variety of fish and some with decent size.
We ended up with 32 fish, including spotted bay bass, calico bass, mackerel, halibut, sculpin and maybe a smelt or two. Don't think we went more that 10 minutes without a fish on, and we had a few doubles thrown in. Two old fellows out for a morning of fun!! Thanks so much for including me in Larry!!

Went carping in 84 degree Carnegie Lake this evening on a hot, humid, cloudy day with a light south wind. Mosquitoes 🦟 were biting. I killed 6. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released 6 bluegills, 3 white perch, 2 yellow perch and a musk turtle. Landed 90 turtles 🐒 this year. Saw a great blue heron catch and swallow 2 yellow perch and a white perch. 6 other fishermen were nearby. Osprey flew overhead with gizzard shad in their talons. Caught > 2,400 fish 🐟 this year.

As always a great day out fishing bands! Good luck and be safe!! 🦞

Hello fish fam,so Sunday I met Matt at Lake Sonoma, bit overcast but nice cool weather for fishing,we started out at our usual spots, but for some reason the bite was off,but of course Matt catches one so now I’m really working that bank, finally I get a solid bite and land this nice LMB,only fish for me all day,and not for lack of trying,I could hear the lake quietly laughing at me,I know when to leave, decent fish and no skunk,I’m ok with that, hope your day treats you well🎣

Nice one! That’s an awesome photo of a great catch! I’m glad you posted! I’m going to spring lake tomorrow, if it all works out I’m leaving work at 11:00am fish till 5:00pm, at least that’s the plan!

The gate got opened 10 minutes late this morning (kid called in sick), and that was an indication of the day to come.
79Β° water temperature @ the ramp, up as high as 84Β° in other spots later in the day. I started at the north end and hit every spot I have, all the way down to the dam, NADA! Nothing but a few panfish in all my favorite places including the Brushpile, and only a few marking in deep water. I threw everything I had rigged up and "0" results. Ate my sandwich @1pm, and started backtracking all my stops. When I got back to the Brushpile, I tossed a Summer Gill into branches and got slammed! FINALLY! After wrestling her out, 2lb 3oz, I rerigged and made another pass, Slammed again, another wrestling match and in the boat. 2lb 7oz. Rigged another worm, circled around and hit it again, Slammed Again! This one wasn't coming out, and after 5 minutes all I felt was a dead snag or limp line, NO tug. I wrapped the 10lb braid around my pliers, and aimed the trolling motor away from the pile. Just as the line got tight, it started pulling BACK!!! I unwrapped the line and engaged the reel, after a little give and take, I got her out, and in the net.2lb 5oz. I retied the frayed leader, and made another pass. Slammed Again! This one went to instant snag, and after 10 minutes of trying every angle, and slacking off several times, I had to break it off. Never saw that fish. I continued north and worked my way through all my spots, with only another Rocky to show for it. Called it a day. 3 in the boat, missed a couple dropshot hits, and 1 broken off. All the Largemouth on a 5"Summer Gill Dinger.
