Here lately I feel I'm at a place in my life where errands are starting to count as going out.

Statistics show that many of us are getting tired of being part of a major historical event.

I don't always go the extra mile, but when I do, it's because I missed my exit. ( works for me )

My goal for 2023 was to lose 10 pounds. Only have 14 to go. ( Chocolate will do that you know )

Just the other night I ate salad for dinner. Mostly croutons and tomatoes. Really just one big round crouton covered with tomato sauce and cheese. FINE, it was a pizza... OK, I ate a pizza! ( Are you happy now? )

I just did a week's worth of cardio after walking into a spider web. ( That counts right? )

I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food supply in 3 hours and 20 minutes. ( Guess I should have read the directions )

ONE FOR HISTORY BUFFS THAT I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW.

In 1975, President Ford was left to manage the difficult ending of the Vietnam War. President Ford went to Congress for a relief package to allow American personnel and our allies to evacuate. However, there was ONE US SENATOR who opposed any such support. The result was the embarrassing and hurried evacuation from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon.

This senator reveled in the embarrassment and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford. Despite the efforts of this U.S. Senator--President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 South Vietnamese allies prior to the country's fall. Had President Ford not acted quickly, these people would have been targeted and slaughtered for their support of America. When they arrived in America, President Ford asked Congress for a package to assist these refugees in integrating into American society.

That SAME troublesome SENATOR TORPEDOED ANY SUPPORT for these shell-shocked, anti-c*******t, Americans and our helpers, the refugees.


Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to offer assistance on a voluntary basis. As he did so, the Senator belittled those efforts. What kind of person would oppose President Ford's tireless work to do the right and humanitarian thing? Who would want to play politics with the well-being of innocent people who stood by America in the tragic Vietnam War?

22 years ago today terrorists tried to destroy America by flying planes into the trade towers, the Pentagon and attending the Nations Capitol Building.
Nearly 3000 precious lives were lost that day.
I remember that time vividly as if it were occuring right now.
I was at Purdue University preparing the Italian meal section of the Union Building, a popular place to eat.
Roger May came in and said the Trade Tower in New York had just been hit by a plane and it was on the Jumbo Tron TV in the lobby.
I remember thinking this was just a movie until others said it was on other news channels as well. I saw the second plane hit and the towers fall.
Every food station was shut down and no food was served that day.
Oddly enough the terrorist who flew the plane into the first building was trained at Purdue University Flight School. His instructor later said he was intent on learning how to make a sharp banking tune.
Apparently they had been planning this for years.
I'll share more later on my cousin who was in the Pentagon building when it was hit.
But first dear friends I want to know what you were doing on September 11th 2001 at 8:45 am.
