Owned/raced at least half doz of those old Ford coupes RJ so know all about those mechanical brakes. lol. When I raced the dirt tracks in 50's we removed all the brakes rods except the left rear because it would let you hit the corners faster with more control. Better get off this car subject my friend because I could write a book about the 100's of rides I built, raced & showed the last 70+ years & have more than enough photos & video to back it up.
Home recuperating fome from a 6 day stay in the hospital (mild stroke) & plan on getting back to my all Fri nite fishing outings with my wife. Hope everyone out there has a safe, enjoyable Labor Day weekend

RJ,
You definitely woke up some old memories for me with your "XERF" post. When I was16 yrs old cruising the square in Gettysburg, Pa in the early 50's in my 1st car (1936 Ford coupe) we cruised the nite away listening to the Wolf Man. , in a million years I couldn't have ever dreamed back then that a half century later the Wolf Man would become a personal friend of mine. Of the numerous sign ins he used over the yrs, my favorite was - (not word for word) started off with his trade marked howel followed by "good morning cat's & kittens, this is the Wolf Man - another howel- sending 10,000 watts of rock & roll power out to you this morning from XERF radio's "Tower of Power" in Del Rio Texas.
My 1st meeting with Bob Smith ( Wolfman) was at a car show in Champaign, Ill in the early, mid 80's. During the 31 yrs I traveled the car show circuit. I did numerous interviews with him & numerous other celebrity's that were popular with the car show crowd back then. Over time the two of us built up a great friendship between us to where we would both call each other to see what shows we were working etc etc. At one event in Mich 2, 3 yrs before he passed he invited me to stop by is motel after the show to drink some "jack" & talk about the "old days". (the Wolfman loved his jack & drank it like water) That evening I learned more about the Wolman thanI had the 8 -10 yrs I knew him.
The way the "Midnite Hour" got it's name wasn't as many thought, because it came on the air at midnite.
When he XERF radio station went bankrupt in the late 40's early 50's, the Wolfman bought it thu a bankruptcy court. The former owners refused to give the station up so aftersome frutile negoations the Wolman & 2 of his friends armed with shot guns broke into the station at midnite during a shift change & took over the mike. I can still see/hear the Wolfman, laughing telling this story saying, It's a wonder we were't killed because they had guns to. At that time we were 16, 18,19 yr old kids that were wilder than a bucket of rattlesnakes & thought we were invincible. He went on to talk about many things that evening comparing the kids of that day to the kids of our day, along with many other subjects on music, life styles etc that none of his of his fans ever new about him.
When he passed in1995 I was doing an event in upper N Y. As a tribute to the Wolfman I put that special one on one interview on the big screen & received 100's of requests for a copy of it of which I declined out of respect for the man who as a friend shared such precious/personal memories with me. To this day I still have the autographed picture he gave me that eve, hanging on my wall and while I have had many chances to sell it over the years, to date they have yet to print enough money to buy it

Had more than my share of "Muscle Car's" before they were called Muscle cars.(50's/60's). My favorite, a 1940 Willys Gasser running a blown Hemi. When I moved from Ind to Va my 40x60 "toy box" housed a chopped Olds powered 1950 Merc, two "T Buckets", both Ford Powered , a 1931 A Bone with a "French Flat Head, a 1938 REO Speedwagon wrecker sitting on a k5 Blazer chassis & a custom built 1935 Dodge Brothers RV. Due to distance & lack of space was forced to sell all but one.

While your in that Tack store pick up a plastic bottle of Absorbine Veterinary Liniment GEL.
Removes the pain almost instantly. Asked my Dr about it & he said it was better than anything he could prescribe for me. Said he uses it himself but can't offer it to his patients because it's for "animals" Not bragging but in my younger days I can remember a few of the ladies calling me an animal. lol

Don't mean to reveal my age but I did a lot of pheasant, quail & rabbit hunting in Milford Ks before they flooded it & several other small burgs in the area in the late 60's. One of my hunting buddies who lived in nearby Wakefield had a beautiful 20 - 25 ft sugar maple in his front yd that I admired. He said if I cold get it out of the ground before they bulldozed the all the buildings I could have it. Paid a dozer operator $20 to dig it out & sit it in the back of my 55 F100 which put the back bumper inches from the ground. On the 30 mile trip home had to tie the top down to get under several under passes. Today that Maple is approx 75 - 100 ft tall & a site to behold in the fall when the leaves turn gold. The following week we returned & gave the dozer driver another $20 to remove & load Milfords only fire hydrant which today is still displayed in my sisters front flower garden in Abilene with a sign that reads, "Out of Water"

Hello Greeny,
Fresh water bank fishing is the only kind of fishing I have ever done. One particular pond I fish near by has clay & rocky banks. When ever I fish there I usually carry a small hammer/sledge with me.

Decided to replace my Whopper Plopper I lost to a over cast into the bush's last year & couldn't see paying $16.99 at the local bait shop. Not a tight wad but feel what I found was a bit over priced. Found a 6 pack of whoppers look a likes on Amazon for $14.95. Has anybody tried these or should I bite the bullet & go for the real thing Video Bob

"Buffalo Chip", Can identify with you wanting a cb handle that could be heard & understood when you keyed the mike. Never had any interest in a cb radio until I won a 23 channel Royce at a car show in the early 70's. When I hung up my mike in the mid 80's was talking on a 250 channel import radio with "split channels", a 1000 watt kicker & a set of Wilson stacked 5's on a 85 ft tower. When we talked with full power on our "outlaw channel" in the wee hrs of the morning I went by "Hollywoods misplaced movie star, the fabulous , famous , friendly Freddy Fillmore Fuddpucker on the worlds most walked on talked on squawked on flakiest station in the nation. Listening to people trying to repeat my handle was always hilarious.

When I got into cars was know far & near as the Wild Child. When I got hooked on the cb in the 70's my handle was the "Bondo Man" on the lower 40 & "double Zero" on the uppers. When I retired from the auto body industry in 82 & went into doing automotive videos was called "Video Bob"

Your close Four but close only counts when your playing horse shoes. How'd you come up with that 67 cents??? Got me scratching my head now. If you pay close attention to the figures there isn't a dollar missing. After the desk clerk refunded them $5.00, their room cost $25.00 NOT $27.00. Take the $25.00 add the $3.00 the bell hop gave them back plus the $2.00 he kept you come up with $30.00. Bottom line, figures don't lie but liars figure
