Alright Stagers, Here's the highly complicated answer to the question does adding salt make water boil faster?
Many of you hit upon some very important aspects of the equation.
First off the salt NaCl must not be Iodized.
Plumbob, you mentioned the amount salt per container.
Possum, you mentioned the mineral content of the water. It must be either sterilized or distilled.
For sake of the experiment with teped or lukewarm water of 90 degrees distilled water.
Saw1 you mentioned elevation.
Water boils at 212 degrees at sea level, but decrease by 1 degree from every 500 feet in elevation.
Here in Lafayette Indiana the elevation is + 600 feet, so we'll count that as - 1 degree.
At Saws place in Lake Tahoe the elevation is + 6200 feet so water would boil at 200 degrees.
You also have to take account of the type of vessel you're boiling the water in. Aluminum ( AL atomic #13 ) distributes heat the fastest.
So the proper amount of salt in the proper container will separate the NaCl into Sodium ( Na atomic # 11
and the Clorine ( Cl atomic # 17 ) and thereby disrupting steam from forming.
After all of that explanation under ideal conditions. Salt WILL decrease the boiling time of water by about 5 seconds.
My mom asked my wife " Joyce how does he know all these things "?
She said " He reads alot and remembers alot. Except where he leaves his keys and wallet ".

Wait, what?

I'm going with "a watched pot never boils." And I only add salt when the recipe calls for it.

I love your "Stuff," CB. Thanks.

Hello BD
Thanks for mentioning the science behind the question.
When I post the correct answer I have plans to reveal the scientific formula as well.
If you know the equation please post it.
Thanks again

Saltwater has a higher boiling point than freshwater. (and a lower freezing point)
Two factors are involved in turning water into steam. (making it boil)

Barometric pressure and Temperature.

Some assumptions need to be made in discussing your question.

First, assume that the barometric pressure remains constant when testing the salt added to water.
Second, assume the heat added is precisely the same.
Third, assume the purpose of boiling the water is to cook with it.

The amount of Salt required to reduce the boiling point of tap water is nearly 20%—way too salty to use for cooking.

Even so, the difference in time for either one to boil is insignificant. You could not possibly tell without specialized testing equipment.

So, to answer your question, adding salt really doesn't make that big of a difference.

A formula would be interesting, but I don't of one for such a purpose.

Awaiting your reply.

Holy smokes, Cruz. Did you catch that little guy on an ultralight rig?

Are you freaking awesome, dude?

I love your posts! Please keep showing your game on the stage!!!
You are one of the best!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Hey, there is a Monster Lake west of you, full of "Mean Mouth Bass" and State Records. Just waiting for you to fish it..

Where's Boone?

I hate to say it, but those dogs don't look like they enjoy the cold!

Hello stagers,
My daughter ,Crystal, got a job at a liquor store.
No one in our family drinks much. I would like to try some drink recipes. I'm asking you for your input.
What is your favorite and how do you make it.
I'm looking for drinks other the usual like rum or whiskey in Coke.
For example. I once had a drink that I enjoyed called a Grasshopper 🦗. It was a shot of Cream de Mint, Cream de Cocco and a shot of vodka mixed with 1/2 & 1/2. I also remember something called a Pink Squirrel, but don't remember its ingredients other than Peppermint Schnapps.
My wife mentioned Long Island Iced Tea, but neither of us know how to make it.
Looking forward to your recipes.

Here is an easy recipe that is sure to surprise you.
I typically enjoy these around the winter Holidays.
The recipe was given to me by a pharmacist.

1 glass of milk over ice.
1 teaspoon of Vanilla flavoring
1 teaspoon of sugar
Stir
fill the remaining glass with the Bourbon whiskey of your choice, typically 1 to 2 jiggers.
Stir again.

Enjoy

Nope. Adding heat makes it boil faster.
The answer is no since you are not asking for a scientific reason. Salt does not make water boil faster.

Just for the record, a watched pot takes longer to boil.

My guess drunk.

As for running red lights I see it all the time. Most aren't seniors.

About a yr ago a old guy did run a red on me.
Lucky nobody in left turn lane on that side of the intersection I would have hit somebody.
We've been in 4 accidents. All by negligence of other drivers.
Drunk ran a stop sign broadside $6,200 next ran red light broadside forget how much.
Both late 30 early 40. #3 69 yr old woman ileagal turn broadside $3,500 #4 the head on totaled n serious injuries truck totaled.
Around here 5 dead teens.
Two on prom nite. Hit tree heading
Next days after graduation 3boys ran under a tractor trailer 2 dead instantly third next day.
It happens in all ages.
Just be careful brother.
I'm 77 👍👍

Hold on, Griz.
You read me wrong!

Frank, you can order and have anything delivered to you—especially groceries and takeout.

You can learn to use UBER, and you will be surprised at the wonderful people you will meet.

The fact is, driving is becoming outdated. Yeah, I get the independence part. But my goodness, let someone else drive.

If you have serious questions about driving, then now is the time to practice alternatives.

For the record, I am a parcel delivery driver. I see tens, if not hundreds, of near misses every month.

Frank, I'm glad you are cognizant of your depreciating driving skills. I wish more people were like you.

Like Griz said, just be careful.

Quit Driving.

Today, a car pulled out in front of me in a 50mph zone. The car was doing maybe 30MPH. The car would have been slammed if I had not been paying attention. The vehicle continued around 30MPH and drove straight through a red light.

I stopped. I thought it was a senior driver.

If you can't keep up with the changes and see all six sides of your vehicle, please consider alternatives.

I'm sad that happened to you, Frank.

You asked for opinions.

PS. I am 63 years old.

Okay, okay, back to the thread...yep, I got bored with the single-shot caps and used a hammer to add to the thrill!
I was born in 61, and most of those are familiar. Many were on their way out.

Hello stagers,
They say " What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ". Well not necessarily.
What company's founder took his floundering businesses last 5000 dollars to the Black Jack tables of Las Vegas and not only won enough to save it from bankruptcy, but enough to make it flourish?
I'm looking for the Name of the company here.
If you can name the Company's founder that would be a bonus
