Got to get out for a couple hours this morning before the wind got up. Only caught 1 and had one jump off right at the boat and another I just couldn't get my hands on before it pulled off, or I knocked it off. One of these days I'm gonna buy a net, either the fish are getting faster and stronger or I'm getting slower and just can't hold on to them. All of the hits came on a 5/16 jig in 8 to 12 feet of water. It was nice to get out, flat water for a couple hours then the wind got up so I called in a day.

Hey Ivey. Sorry to hear bout your back and neck. Will keep you in my prayers.
I can relate with the back, neck, right foot and knee plus my left thumb problems.
Some people say it sucks to get old but I guess it's better than the alternative.
I'm still able to get around for the most part and get done what I need to do.
I'll probly end up getting surgery one of these days, but not yet.

Hold out as long as you can but don't wait to long, nerve damage is a real problem. I'm hoping to hold out but if things start going numb again I'll know it's time.

Good looking fish there Mike, I just got a second opinion on my back and both said the same thing ( need surgery) was almost ready to do it till I thought it's going be cooling down shortly and the Red's and Snook already going strong then I have lots of work to catch up on been so hot during the summer plus I have some great friends from up north will be down soon, boy I came up with lots of reasons real fast to put it off till next summer when it's to hot to do anything 😂 Hope we both can make it till later on 🤞
I'll keep you in our prayers Chuck and Kay 🙏

I hear you Chuckay, about April sounds good, 6 to 8 weeks recovery should put me into the After dark fishing so that's what I'm thinking.

Nice ones Mike. Were you flipping a jig or plastics? Blowdowns are my favorite places to catch Largemouth. Good luck with the back and neck. Thanks for the pictures.

Flipping a big Zoom old Monster worm 1/8th oz. pegged sinker. I guess that's also my favorite way to catch Largemouth too. Always a test to get them out of the tops.

Got out for a couple hours yesterday Smallmouth were hard to find so I started flipping blow down trees and squeezed out a couple nice Largemouth. About time for the Crappie to turn on, hope I get to get after them. Got some not so great news from the neurologists. Herniated disk in between C3&4 and narrowing of the spine above my old back surgery L3 thru L5. I was surprised he was more concerned with the stuff in the lower back than in my neck. I guess over time I've got used to the pain in the lower back. The Doc. is ready to do surgery now but I'm gonna try and get through the winter, love my winter fishing.

Cj

That is true CJ, some of my biggest fish have come in the wee hours of the night fishing a jig. My biggest Smallmouth a 7 pound 4 oz bronze beauty came around 3:00 am one morning and my biggest Largemouth an 8 pound 8 Oz. scrapper came on a black Spinnerbait in the early hours one july night. The big fish do roam after dark and not only durning the summer months. I once caught a SM over 6 pounds on New Years Eve after midnight .

Absolutely beautiful Ivey.
2nd one I see a deer head.

I'll go with Chuckay on Indian head.
Must be nice having a place where you can safely fish at night 👍🎣

It was a very nice night, the wind just puffed a few times but mostly dead calm. While the moon rose I was more interested in taking pictures than fishing. may try and get out again tonight and see if they bite a little better. Here's a couple more I took before it got way up. I believe it's the Harvest moon tonight and really you could have picked pumpkins by the light of the moon last night.

I don't know what happened around here.
Guys used the bush hogs n the chunks. The one day gone.
When Eyecrosser said he used a baby bush hog in a post. I started looking in my stash. Found a pack baby hogs n a pk of the big ones.
New stuff comes out every day 👍

That kinda happened around here Net Baits took the lead for a while but I stuck with Zoom. We don't have any good tackle shops in our area, Wal-Mart has nothing I buy and I refuse to go in that place. We've had two tackle shops open and close in the past 5 years so now I just order the stuff I want on line, Tackle Warehouse or Fish USA and get what I want delivered to the front door. You'd think with several lakes close there would be a decent store but the only good tackle store close to me is at least 40 miles so ordering online works.

Seems like zoom works pretty well down south.

When I get back together I have some I'll try up here.
Told Eyecrosser zoomuse to be popular around here. Not so much anymore.
I order what I wanted from tackle direct. Got it a day earlier than stated.
I'm impressed 👍

I've been using Zoom products for as long as they've been in business. The zoom small salty chunk with a glass rattle inserted trail behind most of my jigs a Zoom Trick Worm in pink or green pumpkin rigged weightless is a killer in the spring along with a Zoom Lizard. The Ol Monster Zoom worm is a go to during night fishing used just like I did the u tail. all good baits but I'm normally fishing a homemade jig and Zoom chunk for Smallmouth.

Got out for just a little bit last night. The Smallmouth just would not cooperate so I flipped a few blow down trees and salvaged the trip with Largemouth. ended up with 3 all in the 3 pound class but only got two pics. They were holding right in the middle of the tree tops holding in 4 to 5 ft of water over 12 ft.

You can pick them up at most any fireworks stand, most are suffer based.

Good job. You can come up here for the groundhogs! Have burrowed under neighbors garage which is 3ft up from my yard. Afraid it's going to fall down the hill. Also have been rebuilding by my sailboat which is hanging on by inches from the slope they caused burrowing under the ground and planks that hold the driveway up from my downhill neighbor. I've caught two in traps and relocated but you know there's more~ And it's too hot, humid and mosquitoey to get out there and finish rebuilding the past three days.

Oh no, those guys can really do a number on things, at least my problem is just digging shallow. Problem with ground hogs is they will come to the scent of another ground hog. I had that problem at a rental property I used to own. They undermined the foundation of that house. I'd kill one and others would show up. find their hole and fill it with something smelly like Irish Spring Soap or if you can get to it put a surfer based smoke bomb in their hole. That will kill any in the hole and leave a smell they can't stand. Also the sub sonic .22 rounds will do a number on them.

That's very interesting and a little creepy. Do we have that much space junk up there or perhaps we are being scanned? So cool you caught it. I've never seen anything like that!
Have you thought about sending the video to NASA or American Meteor Society? I belonged to a Meteor group for a few years , watching and recording meteor sightings. I am sure they would be interested.

The first time this week I saw them I wondered but a youtube search show several videos of them.
